1. I am almost half way through my trainee year... time has gone very quickly.
2. Started a new treatment with a patient today and it went really well, hoping that my confidence is coming back! :D
3. Had a super healthy dinner that's made me feel much better.
4. Thinking about specialising in mental and physical health....
5. Why do I feel so tired?

1. What an odd day
2. Started off the day very annoyed at having to come into work (this was initially meant to be a training day but then it got cancelled, so no appointments had been made for today and all of them got crammed into tomorrow instead, leaving me with today sitting around twiddling my thumbs)
3. Having said that, I'm finishing the day feeling incredibly relieved to have had an entire day to prepare and plan for all of tomorrow's sessions, it has been very containing
4. Looking forward to a bit of singing tonight - haven't been to a folk club since before xmas and it will be lovely to relax with music
5. Just 7 more days of RED January (Run Every Day) left - really feeling the benefit but could definitely do with a rest soon!

1.) I'm all packed and ready for my big move tomorrow! My new job starts in two weeks and has got me excited and grateful and a little nervous. I had a bittersweet goodbye to the CAMHS unit - for all the frustrations I faced there, and despite certain aspects of inpatient psychiatry practically making me go full-on Thomas Szasz, it's been great. I know it's time to move on, but I'll still miss it.
2.) I couldn't sleep last night, and as I was snuggled up in bed with my feet on a toasty hot water bottle, I had a bit of an epiphany. I'd been planning to try and find some AP or similar work to fit around my postdoc, so I'd be ready to apply when my postdoc ends. I was lying there warm and drowsy and happy, and I suddenly realised that I don't want to keep thinking like a chess player, always planning my next move - I want to enjoy what I've got and not keep jumping hurdles (to mix the metaphors a bit). It also occurred to me that if I've let all these years pass without applying for the DClinPsy even once, perhaps I don't want it quite as badly as I thought. And that's OK.
3.) My first priority on settling into my new city will be to locate the best Indian takeaway. This will involve careful exacting research.
4.) I need to find a cello teacher too.
5.) Life is good.

"Suppose it didn't," said Pooh, after careful thought.

1) that moment when you think you've made a decision... which you're happy about... and then you suddenly question and doubt yourself. My head literally feels like mush
2) I feel so much pressure at the moment to make life decisions, I'm struggling with just being happy with what I've got and what I'm doing, I feel like I need to regroup and ground myself
3) a weekend of nothing will help me feel better, and a lie in
4) I'm bored of winter now, brings me some warmth
5) is it bed time yet?

1.) Feeling so stressed and anxious this week...struggling a lot with anxiety recently but it's a lot worse this week - felt like I was almost on the verge of a panic attack Wednesday which is a new one but thankfully I got through the day
2.) Just SO much going on at the minute, working full time and getting a lot of imposter syndrome that I'm no good at my new role, uni has a looming huge deadline where I don't even know where to start, the constant flood of lectures and reading to stay on top of, started my placement at work for the course which is really exciting and interesting but also an extra 'thing' to prepare for, partner having a lot going on with work so not seeing much of him and his Dad being terminally ill... it's... a LOT right now.
3.) Missed work on Thursday because my bike broke down AGAIN which led to me becoming a huge anxious crying mess. Then apologised to my boss today who simply said these things happen and wasn't even slightly bothered!
4 - 5.)That's enough thoughts for today!

1.) I feel very inspired by the scale and force of the pushback against Trump's policies. The video footage from Whitehall the other night and that mass of 10,000+ people shouting for refugee rights almost brought me to tears. As I've spent a fair bit of time in refugee camps and countries affected by political violence, this issue feels very close to the bone for me - I have friends whom I don't know if I'm ever going to see alive again, the cruelty of that executive order and the sentiment it was pandering to made me so angry, and then suddenly UK streets are full of people who feel the same.
2.) I was visiting my parents and even their relatively small town managed to rustle up 400 protestors or so. I went out with a hastily made banner. Two EDL supporters showed up to heckle, and a man went over to stand next to them, whether to be welcoming to all comers or to screen them from our view I didn't know. That's when I saw his banner read 'Make America gay again'. They shot off pretty quickly, presumably before they could end up in the local paper with that as their backdrop.
3.) New job starts on Monday!
4.) - 5.) Food, must have some.

1. I can sort of see the end of training up ahead and it is an amazing though, especially when I am knee deep in trying to score cognitive assessments and I seem to have developed difficulties in dealing with numbers. I think my anxiety about numbers is not helping.
2. On the upside, my supervisor is amazing and I think I'd quite like to be her when I grow up.
3. It would be very excellent if someone could invent a machine where you could stop time for a bit and have a lovely nap and then return to the current time and carry on with whatever it was you were doing. That would be delightful.
4. It's almost 5 and it is still a bit light outside, hoorah! spring is starting to spring!
5. Mushroom risotto and hummus go surprisingly well together.

^ This made me smile. I often think similarly. :D

1. I'm actually a little proud of my adulting this week.
2. Asking for help and support isn't so horrifying as it used to be.
3. Looking forward to seeing where this realisation takes me.
4. Determined to get up to date with my work ready for the weekend.
5. I forgot the second half of my iced latte, and it's now lukewarm coffee water. Sad times.

So sorry to hear this. Our pets are so much part of our family, aren't they? It's heart-wrenching when they are unwell. I hope you can enjoy every second you do have with him and take comfort in knowing how loved he is. Love and hugs to all of you.

1) It's beeeeen a while since I've checked in here! Hey everyone!
2) For the first time in years, I feel really disconnected from this application/interview cycle - can't believe it's rolled around again so quickly.
3) Why did I ever think doing qualitative research was a good idea? Why? Whyyyyyyy?
4) I wonder if there's a limit to how many times I can change my mind about my epistemological stance. I'm really not built for this.
5) Time for a procrasti-coffee or 3.

1) Looking forward to a night out tonight. My monthly escape.
2) Really hope my best friend will be free to meet up tomorrow. Trying to contain my disappointment when he says he may not be able to.
3) Plus side of being a slightly older 'trainee' is having lots of experience and a sense of perspective. Down side is being a bit rubbish at all these new-fangled computer things to manage literature searches and references.
4) I'm going to have to eat that last After 8 mint aren't I?
5) Should I be concerned by the loud clattering that's going on upstairs? What are the cleaners doing up there? It's no good having a clean house if it's been destroyed in the process.
