GP referrals

Postby bathtub123 » Sat Dec 02, 2017 11:12 pm

Good Evening
Can anyone give me some insights into GP referrals for CBT? Do practitioners have to accept a GP referral, if the GP's clinical opinion is that this is the appropriate therapy for the patient and knowing your work you are the best person for the patient?
Thank you

This is extremely specific for area/service. GPs will also be referring to NHS team, rather than individual clinicians. However, it's not uncommon for GP referrals to be turned down if they are inappropriate. But what constitutes inappropriate will depend very much on specific service procedures, and agreements with commissioners.
