Hi everyone,

My name is Julia. I am currently studying towards my MSc in Criminology, but after completion I'm hoping to start a conversion course and training in clinical psychology thereafter.

I don't really have a favorite color, it all depends on the context and mood I'm in.

I have three cats (haha, crazy cat lady), two female and one male.

Hello!

My Name's Robyn, I'm currently into my third year of my part-time Psychology Bsc. I'm looking to further my learning in the field of Neuropsychology. I currently work in a consortium improving services for children in care.

my favourite colour used to be purple, but its been so long since I gave it much though that I don't even know anymore  haha

I also have a cat, Luna. Everyone thinks it's short for Lunatic - that wasn't the intention but it really suits her!

nice to (virtually) meet you all :P

Hello all :)

I am Liv. I graduated in 2011 with a BSc in Psychology with Clinical Psychology, having originally thought I would aim to go on to do the doctorate eventually. My plans have changed since then: I finished my MSc Sport & Exercise Psychology last month, having fallen in love with that area, and my aim now is to firstly find work (hopefully in a relevant area!) and at some point go on to do further research (if I can get funding).

I hope it's ok to post here even though I'm not specifically aiming for clinical psychology anymore. I just love research, basically, but one of my main research interests is the relationships between exercise and mental health - specifically, the relationships between eating disorders and exercise (dependence, compulsion, excessive, etc...) and also the potential use of exercise in the treatment of anorexia, exercise in inpatient units, etc etc. So I'm interested in clinical aspects of my research area, and it's interesting to keep up with clinical psychology in general.

Anyways...ramble over!

Hello all,

My name is Nicola and I am in my third year as a psychology undergraduate. Currently going through the process of applying for a place on the Clinical Psychology PhD. Have been working with a variety of mental health illness over the last three years as a support worker and healthcare assistant. Have been reading the forms on here for a while, so it's great that I can now interact with like minded individuals. :D

As you can tell most likely tell.. I love mindfulness! but also... baking biscuits! :D

Hello everyone

I'm Eva, I've been following the forum for quite a while, but decided to sign up because I'm in desperate need of some direction - I'm beginning to lose my way in my quest to become a CP.

My favourite colours are burgundy, navy, forest green and mustard yellow. In between immersing myself in the psych world, I enjoy knitting. I also have three miniature schnauzers, which I groom and show. Chicken and pesto is definitely my favourite pizza topping.

I look forward to hearing from you :)

Hello!

I've just joined the forum. I wanted to get to know people in the Clinical Psychology community, and I'm considering training and working as a psychologist myself, so I hope that as well as meeting interesting new people, I might be able to think through the most suitable training route to take.

At the moment, I am a languages tutor (currently teaching English one-to-one in St Petersburg, Russia) and artist. I love drawing and painting portraits. I've attached a couple of recent drawings to this message!

This is my background: I studied a degree in modern languages (Russian and French) at Cambridge, and moved into language teaching. First, I worked in language schools with groups of up to 14 adults from different countries, teaching English. Then I started to work freelance, one-to-one with adults, again teaching English. I have done some translation work from Russian to English, for a healthcare charity, and also for a Psychology PhD candidate. I am currently working in Russia, and taking some counselling training here. I am fluent in Russian and am learning to do counselling in Russian.

I am now considering moving back to London and doing psychotherapy training. Psychotherapy attracts me more than Counselling or Clinical Psychology, because there seem to be a variety of approaches in psychotherapy, which I find interesting, and I feel that I'm more of an arts than a science person. I want to work one-to-one with clients, and carry out in-depth work with them, to enable them to overcome difficulties in their lives. I love writing, and would like to study psychology or psychotherapy in depth so that I can write articles and maybe books to help people. I love art and am considering training in art therapy, but I think that I would like to have an integrative approach, not only working with art therapy, as I think that this would open up more employment opportunities.

I am quite confused with all the different training courses and options. In particular, it is difficult for me to understand the difference between what training in Counselling Psychology would enable me to do, and what Psychotherapy training would enable me to do. I've just posted a message in the careers advice thread.

Looking forward to getting to know people here!

Hello I am scigirl. I want to be a clinical psychologist. I haven't attended university yet though due to health problems. I really want to study Biology and Psychology because both are my favourite subjects. I don't have a favourite colour. I like drawing/painting, playing the piano and playing with my dog. My favourite film is Inception and I enjoy reading up on Psychology, Philosophy and Biology. I really want to have some pet fish.

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum, (33/M/UK) I'm currently working towards becoming a psychotherapist and having finished 3 years of training at the institute of psychosynthesis in London, first stop to becoming fully qualified is 100 client hours (I've done my essays etc) for the counselling diploma which is my goal for this year then onto 250 hours then finally 450 hours with my dissertation which will need to be completed!
At the moment I'm working as a Drug and alcohol support worker for the NHS and recently had an unsuccessful interview to become a Psychological wellbeing Practitioner for the NHS, they gave me good feedback though but I just needed to sell myself more.
Since then I have been looking for new opportunities to reapply for an PWP IAPT position in the NHS.
Anyway thanks for reading and I look forward to interacting with you all.

Hi folks, nice to meet you all. I'm planning a career change into ClinPsy. Currently I'm at home taking care of my two little ones but I will apply for an MSc conversion starting next year, once they're both at school. My BSc is in maths but I did psychology at A-level and I'm looking forward to studying it again. I'm currently researching volunteering opportunities so I can start to get some relevant experience under my belt. :D
