Geepopalolo wrote:Hey All,

Some of us have mentioned forum surveillance to see if this year's Progress Thread had arrived yet... We hope we are not stepping on anyone's toes by proposing it now...

We have just cut and pasted the post from last year (many thanks to BlueCat) please see below...
This is a moderator started thread every year so that we can pin it to the top of the relevant forum section. We do not start it until the first letters are sent out from courses offering interviews, because once it is here people compulsively check it even though we know there will be no news - hence the fact that the prepared thread would not launch until a week or so from now. How we run the thread has been developed over ten years of running the forum and is designed to contain anxiety as best we can.

So it is a bit weird to see a clone thread appear ahead of schedule. It is particularly weird to see the OP using my words (I hadn't edited the OP). However, now it is here it probably makes more sense to tidy it up and stick with it, even though it is pre-emptive. I'll add some text about indicating if interviews are self-funding, as that seems to be the reason people are saying they already have notification of interviews, as we have only tracked funded places in previous years.

BTW, we don't use capital letters in thread titles, as that is against the forum guidance.

Not a good start... :(

Leicester
Coventry & Warwick
Lancaster
Birmingham

Received my rejection letter through the post today. In all my excitement, I misread the criteria and didn't realise that Leicester specifically ask for *paid* work experience (I have enough full-time AP experience but not all of it is paid). Naturally I'm feeling very stupid and deflated at the moment  Onward and upwards though... at least I know I'm eligible to sit the written test at Birmingham on the 18th.

It's all a learning experience!

****PLEASE CAN ALL SELF FUNDERS MAKE A NOTE OF THIS NEXT TO THE NAME OF THE COURSES******this is to avoid confusion/panic, as it is possible/likely that self funders will hear on different timescales to funded applicants

UEA
Edinburgh - extra questions
Manchester
UCL

Even though I rationalise that I probably wont get in given 90% of my clinical experiences are outside of the UK, I was holding out for UEA as they seem to have more of a track record for admitting people with "non-traditional experiences". Welp. I'm also pretty sure I completely messed up the numeracy portion of the online test. Sigh. Onwards and upwards!
