We have an exciting opportunity for a psychology graduate to join a small but rapidly expanding mental team within a carers’ charity.

Harrow Carers is an independent voluntary organisation and the lead carers support agency in Harrow since 1996. Our services are offered to anyone who provides unpaid support to family members or friends who may have physical or mental health support needs, or may be ill, frail, disabled and vulnerable in any way. It has a combination of paid staff and volunteers providing direct services to carers. Service offered at Harrow Carers include: mental health support, respite, information, advice, advocacy, complementary therapies, counselling, monthly outings and young and older carers support service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and independent psychology graduate to work within the Harrow Carers Mental Health Service. The role requires a strong team player, who is confident, motivated and well organised. The successful candidate will facilitate courses and workshops aimed at increasing carers’ resilience and improving their quality of life under Step 2 of IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies). The role includes advertising the courses and identifying new carers and promoting Harrow Carers Mental Health Service to other organisations working with carers. The post holder will have the opportunity to be involved with data entry, research and service audit related activities. In addition to the employment contract held with Harrow Carers, the successful applicant will receive an honorary contract with a local NHS foundation trust to facilitate data entry.

The post holder will be accountable to and supervised by the Mental Health Service Management Team.

Some knowledge of CBT, Solution Focused Therapy and Positive Psychology would be an advantage but not essential. Applicants will have a strong academic record and experience of people who have disabilities and /or mental health difficulties.

All candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and reference checks. Harrow Carers is an equal opportunities employer.

Working hours: 21 hours per week
Salary: £18,000 pro rata
Contract length: 6 months, with possibility of extension dependent on funding
