Need a research project or want a placement or MSc?

Postby miriam » Thu Feb 01, 2018 3:13 pm

Is anyone looking for a university research project for your BSc or MSc and/or looking for a placement in a clinical psychology service? Are you wanting to find a way to improve your CV by publishing a paper in a peer reviewed journal, or thinking about doing an MSc to increase research skills? Do you want to do some work with a clinical psychologist that will actually make an impact on the lives of children who have experienced adversity?

If so, get in touch as we've got an opportunity you could be part of, researching a new psychometric tool for children with complex needs. We are looking to get norms for a measure from a non-clinical population (eg a school) to compare with our data for Looked After Children.

We could arrange this as an internship for someone in their final year or immediately after graduation on a 12 week full-time basis, or spread it flexibly over a longer period if it was done as your BSc or MSc research topic. This would be an unpaid position, but you'd get supervision, the chance to sit in on some of our training and be part of other learning experiences, plus we can pay a small honorarium to cover expenses. We might even be willing to sponsor part of the fees for an MSc by research for the right candidate.

We are based in Matlock, Derbyshire, and any placement would be based in our offices here. However, if you were to undertake the research as part of a BSc or MSc degree qualification then it is also possible you could do it remotely - provided you gained appropriate ethical approval to do so and could come for a couple of meetings, have access to skype, and could identify a suitable group of control participants (eg a school or club with children of both genders and a range of ages) then it is possible that you could conduct the data collection aspect of the research locally to you.

Contact with a CV (no longer than 2 pages) and expression of interest ASAP.
