Does anyone know when the Edinburgh health board ranking forms come out (if you get that far?). Would be good to know when I should start stalking the postman!

If I remember rightly, mid-Feb, but exact dates vary each year.

Good luck Smile

I concur! Friendly word of advice - only rank regions you would accept if you were offered Smile Saves a pickle later Very Happy

Yes! I agree with helloimnew! Definitely do not rate places you wouldnt accept as you are very likely to get them and it will be a dilemma

For the health boards with a speciality, does this mean that your placement and thesis in your final year have to be in this area, whereas if there is no speciality you are free to choose?

Yeah, if you get a flexi-child say then your thesis and final year will be in child. If you're not specialist then you choose.

Oh no, I don't have a letter. Anyone know if they are sending rejection letters at the same time?

They usually send them out at the same time, enigmatic.

Hi, I just wondered if there is anybody out there that can offer any advice about where might be better to work if you have a small child? I've been reading the attached information with the ranking sheet, but I think Id be better to avoid ranking places which have more travelling, and without knowing anything much about Scotland Embarassed .....

Any advice would be really appreciated,
Thanks, Lilly.

Hi Lilly. Hmm...let's see. Well Highland covers quite a vast area so that might be difficult for travelling...Grampian Elgin is also quite remote. Grampian Aberdeen might be good, I'm from Aberdeen and would recommend it, although properties are a bit expensive, travel would probably be okay...Tayside would be fine coz property is a bit cheaper but it is quite a small city, shouldn't be too much travel...Lothian would involve less travel and Edinburgh is great...I'm afraid my knowledge remains in the North so I'm not sure about the central/southern regions. Anyone out there offer some advice for Lilly?

Aberdeen placements can mean a lot of travelling, people in learning disability placements can be travelling out to inverurie or banff which can take a bit of time
If you want to be close to teaching as well as placement probably fife or lothian are good
