I think Margot Sunderlands "Helping children with feelings" series of books is really good at exploring particular emotional issues children may have. You can also get accompanying guidebooks for working with children with those issues.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could recommend some reading material in relation to self-esteem and/or managing difficult peer situations that would be appropriate for the 10-14 year old age group. It could be for the child themselves or for parents.

Depending on the person and the exact issue at hand it can be useful to explore their understanding of death and provide psychoeducation as appropriate. I used to think "knickers" was a swear word. I was staying at my cousins house for a week and was absolutely mortified to find that my aunt used the word. Having said that I considered it great gossip to bring home to my mother at the end of the week!
