Thank you Geishawife. That's really helpful to know and has given me a lot to think about.

UCL Institute of Education MSc
Hello, I graduated with a Psychology BSc in 2013. I wanted to get some work experience before deciding whether doing a masters was the right decision for me. I really enjoy studying and I am interested in child development and child and adolescent mental health. I recently found these two masters co...

Re: Applying for trainee PWP position at UCL
Hi there,
I wanted to ask about the application process for this. I know that some trainee PWP positions are advertised on the NHS jobs website and you apply through there. Is this the same with the UCL positions- through NHS jobs?
Thanks,
Rose

Re: Eating disorder experience
I was in a similar position to you when I was an undergrad and when I graduated. Due to the confidential nature of mental health services in general and ED units, it's almost impossible to get a work experience placement/voluntary work directly on a this type of ward. Like others on here have said, ...

Re: Slim options?
As the others have mentioned, there are so many different options and not one set path into clinical psych. It is very hard to find paid relevant work as a graduate, but it is out there- it's taken me a while, I graduated this summer and I've just been offered a role as a support worker in a mental ...

Adolescent Support Work- Books/Articles
Hello! I'm about to start a job as a support worker in an adolescents inpatient hospital. I know they will give training and support once I start, but this is my first role working directly with adolescents with mental health problems, so I'd like to go in prepared. I was wondering if anyone could r...

Re: Msc Applied Psychology in Children & Young people
Hello,
I've been thinking about applying to this course for 2015 intake. I was just wondering, anyone who is on this course, what kind of experience did you have? I was also wondering if anyone knows if they only take applicants who are already living in Scotland.
Thanks!

Mental Health Healthcare Assistant
Hello! In a few days I have an interview with the NHS for a Bank HCA role in the mental health trust. I was just wondering if anyone knows what sort of tasks the job involves. I'm guessing it is different to a normal HCA role and involves less physical care of patients in terms of washing/toileting ...

Thanks both of you for your advice! I've decided not to do the Masters or behavioural HCA role and have a few interviews lined up this week!

Confused psychology graduate- masters or work experience
Hi there, I've just graduated from the University of Exeter with a high 2.1 in Psychology. I want to work with children, but I'm not sure whether I want to do this in an educational or clinical setting yet. I am drawn to clinical because there seem to be more jobs available before getting the doctor...

Re: Educational Psychology
Thank you so much HannahC and choirgirl for your advice. I think studying the masters would be due to interest in modules and like you said to gain some more research experience (I got a mid-2.1 for my undergrad dissertation). However, this whole summer I've still been doubting whether I want to do ...

Re: Educational Psychology
Hi there, I would be really grateful for some advice about educational psychology. I've just finished by Psychology BSc and for a long time I have been torn between persuing a career in clinical or educational psychology. I now feel like I am more suited to working with children, and educational psy...
