Re: ranking of university matters?

Hello, I did my conversion course giving GBR at UEL and really liked it! I've had interviews for the clin psych doctorate at several institutions (including London ones) so I would say that it doesn't make a difference where you do it... Shortlisters may only spend a very short period of time lookin...

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2016

Hi all, My Herts rejection email was labelled as possible spam by Gmail.... so anyone still waiting, suggest you check your spam folders. I interviewed at Herts a few years ago despite having far less experience than I do now (Assistant post, MSc, publications). Shows how random this whole process c...

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2016

Hi all! I got an interview from UEA which I turned down as I've got a 16 week old baby bump and morning sickness and clin psych interviews definitely do not mix! Might try re-applying in a couple of years once little one is a bit bigger... after several unsuccessful interviews in previous years, it'...

Re: Trainee PWP 2015

Hi all,

Do you only hear back if you have been invited to interview?

Also, anyone heard from any of the teams at NELFT or BEH?

Cheers :)

Beth

Re: Start dates for trainee IPAT posts

Hello, I was wondering: do trainee IPAT posts (e.g. trainee PWP posts) always start in September, or do any start in other points of the year? Many thanks Hi Hannah I recently applied for the London-wide LI trainee scheme and they said that the posts could start in September or November and you don...

Re: Lack of interview feedback beofre other interviews

I hear you, Dancinbee. If they really can't call before June, perhaps they could write down 3 key points after each interview, to be fed back in the "no" letters? At least that would give people SOMETHING to work on. I have heard of other places doing that. Then people could ask for a call later if...

Re: Conversion course , please help!

Hi Beth, With conversions being Masters, they are classed in a slightly different way, aren't they? I think I read something that you need 50% to gain your BPS accreditation, 60% for a merit and 70% for a distinction. So in this case, would a merit be equivalent to a 2:1 and thus you realistically ...

Re: Conversion course , please help!

Hi all, Just a quick comment re: conversion courses. They are certainly not frowned on, in fact loads of people come to psychology having done another degree beforehand. I did a conversion course (my first degree was in law) and I've had doctorate interviews and met loads of others at the interviews...

Re: Newman University MSc September 2015

Hi all, Can I still apply for this course now? Or have I missed the application date by some time? I know the application needs to be completed via UCAS and all decisions for UCAS courses are usually sent to applicants at the end of March. I hope I can apply Thanks in advance. Hi G, I've just finis...

Re: Full Time Masters and Full Time Job

Hi all My experience is doing an MSc part-time whilst working full-time which was a LOT of work, but I wouldn't have been able to work part-time for financial reasons. I've just submitted my dissertation and very glad to have it all finished! I did my MSc by distance learning, so it was cheaper than...

Re: Reflections on 4th application and not on training

I'm not sure if I've misremembered, but I think someone on the forum got on on their 8th go - was it Mikel Arteka? Anyway, that pops into my head every few months for whatever reason, and I am always filled with awe at the perseverance and commitment that it must show to keep going for something th...

Re: Reflections on 4th application and not on training

Hi all I've read this thread with interest. For my two penny's worth, I posted on the "Great Big Progress Thread" about my experiences of having 7 interviews and no offer :( and you are welcome to have a read... I definitely felt that during my first 4 interviews (2 each in first 2 years of applying...

Re: Is IAPT a barrier to entry?

Hello, I've heard from talking to / reading about loads of people who've been IAPT workers, even LI trainees who have got doctorate interviews and some have got places, so it's definitely not a barrier. Except for Essex, which has been pointed out. You might want to check individually with other cou...

Re: PWP trainee role, no experience just studying

Hello, Yes, the person spec requires some experience of working with people with mental health problems. However, you could get this experience in a voluntary capacity. I volunteered for Mind before getting my first paid job in mental health. As the others have said there is a lot of competition for...

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2015

5th year applying. 7th interview. 7th rejection. Don't know how many times I can keep trying... Well done everyone who's got a place or a reserve spot. I wish I knew what your secret was. :( Hi all, Thought I might write a bit more about my interview experiences which did not lead to an offer, to p...
