Re: Anybody been in teaching beforehand?

I was exactly the same, having decided when I was in primary school that I wanted to be an ed psych after my brother saw one, but even with UG and PG qualifications geared towards ed psych it was a wise decision to pursue clinical training and my previous experience was, thankfully, recognised. All ...

Re: Anybody been in teaching beforehand?

Hi Caraluna, I wouldn’t underestimate the relevance of your current experience. My background was primary then HE teaching and I reflected on relevant teaching experience in my application and interviews (I’m now a 2nd year trainee). I never had any traditional clinical experience or AP roles but ha...

Re: How do I become a clinical neuropsychologist?

Thanks, workingmama, this is all really helpful information. The only thing I'd add (from resent research I’ve done to try and find the most affordable way to train) is the new BPS approved training at Bristol University. The offer a certificate in clinical neuropsychology practice (either paediatri...

Re: Help Please, HR Nightmare

I was surprised how low my trust's sickness thresholds were for taking action. Thanks for posting this, Bluecat. As someone who's new to the NHS, it's interesting to see how different the sickness policy is to local authority policy. I'm curious to know what action is taken if these thresholds are ...

Re: Bath 2016!

Does anyone have any idea of the teaching dates for the next academic year? I know we can book 10 days leave from July - September but I was wondering when teaching finished for the summer and when we start back?

Re: Bath 2016!

Btw do you know if they notify us when our pre-employment checks have been completed? I received my DBS through the post a while ago and sent back all the forms but haven't heard anything. I contacted the trust today and apparently occupational health are in the process of producing 'Fit Slips' to ...

Re: Any success for tax refund while training?

I don't know about Leeds, specifically, but was informed today by Taunton and Somerset Trust that the right tax codes should be in place prior to October so that trainees shouldn't pay tax for the duration of training. They weren't able to say about NI and following phone calls to the Widening Acces...

Re: The Great Big PhD Tea-Sympathy-and-Celebration Thread

If it makes you feel any better my intro was 5,500 words, lit review was 16,000 and methodology was 20,500 words! Sounds a LOT and this was after seriously heavily editing but all completely necessary for an overly complex multilayered sociocultural study! Good luck with the editing!
