Edinburgh --> Edinburgh
Glasgow --> Glasgow
IOP
RHUL

Think I'm going to go with Glasgow, but I'm tempted by Edinburgh! I got my first choice of health board for both. Quite speechless.

Re: What experience did you have when you got on training?

It's really quite surreal to be posting here. 31 when I start training. After experiencing two quite demoralizing rejections after interviews last year, I remember reading through all of these responses and feeling quite hopeless. It took some time to recuperate, but if you are doing as I did, just ...

Re: 2020 Clinical Doctorate Application Progress Thread

Hi all, thought to just share that I've just heard back from UCL and I'm not successful in my application this year. I'm disappointed for sure, but it is my first time applying, and I've surely learnt a lot from this experience. Wishing you all the best and do feel free to connect :) I am on the sa...

Re: 2020 Clinical Doctorate Application Progress Thread

Have people started hearing back from any of the London based courses yet? Haven’t seen much on here from any of these yet? UCL decision day was 7th of May, but they said they will let candidates know by 11th of May. Has anybody heard back from them? Anxiety is kicking! I am refreshing my emails si...

Re: 2020 Clinical Doctorate Application Progress Thread

Agreed - it is sad to consider that this is something a small minority will do. Two thoughts: It provides some comfort knowing that the profession naturally edges these sorts of people out, I suppose. And, yes, perhaps they have taken a spot from someone that gave an honest interview. However, I wil...

Re: How do prospective courses calculate overall undergraduate percentages?

Long story short, it varies tremendously between courses. For example, because I completed a 4 year degree with a year in Europe mine was a little different: UCL told me to have my referee state I was given a high 2:1 Leicester said they would take years 2 & 4 Sheffiled used years 2, 3, & 4 Essex ju...

Re: Ucl PWP 2019

I got mine today. Well done!! Can I ask where you put your preferences for? I had a preference for London or Brighton. They're interviewing me for Greenwich. However, I'm going to have to turn down the interview as I won't be in the country- unfortunately they are not willing to complete a Skype in...

Re: 2019 Doctorate Application Progress thread

Many thanks for the kind words, all.

I don't want to derail the thread, but will post Spatch's "An open letter to rejectees of 2014". It's certainly a comforting sentiment which I take solace in.

Re: 2019 Doctorate Application Progress thread

I was debating as to whether I would even post as it's difficult, but I think it's important to acknowledge the rejections! I'm feeling like this whole process is like a game of snakes and ladders! Now I'm approaching 30 I'm wondering where to go now. Edinburgh UEA IOP Birmingham Congrats to all the...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1. I'm the victim of two counts of domestic fraud- my sister set up two lines of credit with online retailors. What's absolutely astounding to me is all that she needed was my DOB, previous address, and name. I'm dealing with debt collectors to have the record wiped, but it's obviously not with ease...

Re: Edinburgh doctorate NHS boards

Oh I'm glad they've changed a bit with that jessicaaa - when I interviewed back in 2014, on the day I couldn't change at all because of the health board interviewing me already. So I suddenly really didn't want to be put in Elgin, but I was being interviewed in the north rather than the south, and ...

Re: Edinburgh doctorate NHS boards

Didn't we have to rank all placements? I'm a little foggy on the details of the preference forms. If it's last on your list then it shouldn't really be an issue, should it?
