Re: Recommended books for CBT/HI trainees?

Thank you both - some good suggestions! :) I'm having a look at the reviews as 'we speak'.

Would you say it's worth investing in these books for personal collections or to just borrow? I see some of the books are fairly expensive but I do like buying them! :)

Recommended books for CBT/HI trainees?

Hi there,

Is there any books you would recommend for CBT trainees or therapists even? Any that are a must-read? I'd like to prepare in advance for the training course starting in October.

Many thanks,

CDC

Re: Views on working as an HI/CBT therapist within IAPT

I acquired further training in IPT and now EMDR, I supervise all of the therapists in my locality. I was offered managerial roles, with potential to go up to band 8, I politely declined  I am very glad I exited clinical psychology, and escaped into IAPT. I love the amount of time I get to spend...

Views on working as an HI/CBT therapist within IAPT

Hi all, I just have a simple request and that is for honest opinions about working as a high-intensity/cognitive behavioural therapist within an IAPT service. Which is quite a vague request, but something along the lines of what you enjoy/love or not so much about the role/system and also it would b...

Re: KSA portfolio - any advice?

Hi Ppepper25 I just wanted to ask how long it took you to compile the portfolio? And it might seem like a stupid question but how important has it been, I understand you need to submit this but some people talk of their portfolio not being looked at. I wonder how well written, formal and all togethe...

Yeah that makes sense and something I've not really thought about in these types of tasks actually - so thank you, useful advice!

Re: Writing skills

Hi Holly85, Thanks for responding... So you go through the different areas of the research to critique (method, etc) and then the implications of that research? Yeah I certainly don't even think about that aspect of it. I'm also thinking about the way i write during the task; tending to stick to sim...

Writing skills

Hi all, I've been searching through the forum posts and topics and I've been unable to find the advice I'm specifically looking for. I've basically not been doing well when it comes to the written tasks for the course. Now with a masters recently under my belt and a brush up of research methods and ...

Re: Better BME representation in clinical psychology

I second this. I am also an ethnic minority (south Asian) who is trying to get on to dclinpsy course. Many people from my extended family were unaware of the subject of Psychology until I expressed an interest in it. I have a few years of experience in the field of mental health and like Kalli, unt...

Re: Deciding to withdraw from the process

I think Rapid's feelings and action are totally understandable. I also think it's unfair to throw around words like "bitter" or to question the amount of investment put in. It's a reality that many people voice, face and are also afraid of. Typical thoughts are around "what happens if I never get on...
