Re: Deductive reasoning screening tests discussion
I think it varies from person to person. For instance I'd argue (and I believe there is evidence suggesting that) that many interview formats are also a heavily pressured situation that do a poor job of capturing whether a person is actually suitable for a position. I think that in the situation uni...

Re: Professional development days 2019/2020
I could do either of the Matlock days but would find the London one a bit trickier to get too.
If anyone would have difficulty getting to Matlock, I'd be driving from the Leicester area so could arrange car sharing if anyone is in the derby or nottingham area and wants to go.

Re: Professional development days 2019/2020
Sorry to hear that, thanks for all the work you've put in. Can't say I know of any venues or anything unfortunately, so I will keep fingers crossed that another person may be able to offer assistance. For myself I would be able to travel without public transportation, but I agree that doing a sessio...

Re: Access to a car?
I'm probably a bad person for saying this, but a Band 6 NHS employee is fairly well paid and in most circumstances, they should be able to afford to run a car (I appreciate this may be different for people with dependants, single parents etc etc). Maybe I'm a total cow, but as someone who does dri...

Re: Late application
Just to confirm, no late applications are ever processed. Make sure to get those applications in on time because while 4 course rejections feels bad... This is not a pleasant feeling. Good luck to everyone applying, I'll be wishing you the best!

Late application
Well, today I realised my worst nightmare... Through some combination of mixing up dates and wanting to review my personal statement one last time, I've gone and missed the application deadline. Every bit of my form is ready for submission, all I needed to do was click submit but alas, I did not. Ob...

Re: 2018 Doctorate Application Progress thread
Heard back from Lancaster with a no, ending my application for this year. Feel sad to not be going off on training but I have been making improvements every year I think and I have some assistant psych interviews for after my masters. For those of you in the same position as me, this is a great thre...

Soo happy to get an interview at Lancaster as I was feeling pretty down about possibly not interviewing this year. It'll be quite fun going back for the third year in a row, wonder if they'll get tired of seeing me there.

Re: 2018 Doctorate Application Progress thread
My applications this year: Trent IoPPN Sheffield Lancaster Woohoo, another fun year of applications. :D Didn't get offered to the Trent tests which I thought was a shame, and I'm not expecting an interview at Sheffield as they ask for a high 2:1 which I don't have, just thought I would apply for it ...

Re: Yes I've heard from... 2018 ed.
Has anyone heard from Sheffield yet? Getting a little worried about how little notice it looks like they're planning on giving, as they start interviewing on the 20th March and it looks like all the other early courses have sent out feedback I think people got responses around 10/March last year, s...

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2016
Wasn't going to post as I'm not expecting much this year due to limited experience (just been a HCA at a mental health recovery facility) but was pleased to see a positive response from Lancaster. Looking forward to the interview even if just for the experience. :) Trent Lancaster Coventry South Wales
