Re: 2018 Doctorate Application Progress thread

In my fourth year of applying and my season ends as Essex Herts Leicester Coventry & Warwick (not heard anything and assume it's a red) In previous years I have had all reds and one reserve for interview. After some initial disappointment and upset, I'm now looking at this next year as a challenge ...

Re: 2018 Doctorate Application Progress thread

And my final results are... Birmingham Manchester Lancaster Liverpool First time applying, didn't really expect to get any interviews so I'm very happy about Birmingham. Still can't help but feel disappointed about the others. But, there is always next year! And I guess it only takes one interview. :?

Re: 2018 Doctorate Application Progress thread

Well done, Arya! That just shows how good your application was :) Contrary to popular belief, you don't need a Master's if you have a high 2:1 or a 1st. It does nothing according to the UCL admissions tutor (and she says this is a consensus across the board). Don't do what I did and get in heaps of...

Re: 2018 Doctorate Application Progress thread

In the spirit of showing the negative as well as the positive. (First time applicant): Lancaster Manchester Birmingham Liverpool I'm going to take that as me out for the year as I didn't feel too confident with the Bham test and I doubt I will get looked at by Liverpool as I do not have a post-grad...

I know that seeing the timer and having the frantic typing around me really impacted my performance. Completely my fault, I'm now q...

Re: struggling to find a job

Have you ever considered working within residential care? I have found that there a quite a few job adverts for residential support workers at the moment. This would give you experience with another group (Looked After Children) and usually allows you to develop a wide range of skills. I would echo ...

Re: Can an employer rescind a job offer?

I've had it happen previously (a few years ago) due to my previous HR giving the wrong person's information to the potentially new HR, (don't get me started, it was all a stress and there is a post I made about it on this forum back then). However, I do think it is rare. I would personally wait unti...
