A Facebook group sounds good to me
My placement base is King's Lynn, but I'll be starting off at home near Thetford/Swaffham to save towards a mortgage

Re: Participants wanted: Childhood experiences and personality traits.
Interestingly, I followed exactly the same behavioural pattern as you Miriam, in response to the attention Qs. I do think the inclusion of such attention questions is a really good idea though. I've not seen it before, but what I have seen the consequences of lost attention or rushed inaccurate resp...

Re: Numerical reasoning tests - calculator?
I'm pretty sure they are, having used one for the equivalent Exeter tests a couple of years ago. If anything, I'd go one step further and use two calculators, particularly if you do not have a scientific calculator, as writing down answers to "save" progress answers takes up precious secon...

Re: Issues with Diversity in Clin Psy Trainees Recruitment
Essentially, the data suggests that socio-economic factors do affect opportunity. If you are from a low income family/household, are you more likely to apply to a funded course that pays a salary, or one where you have to pay your fees and work for free? One of the key arguments in trying to preven...

Re: Issues with Diversity in Clin Psy Trainees Recruitment
I think given what someone said about BAME individuals being over-represented in secondary care, it's important that we don't just have proportional representation from those groups. We need to ensure that people accessing services feel like their experiences are going to be understood - of course ...

Re: Issues with Diversity in Clin Psy Trainees Recruitment
Socio-economic factors have also been considered as part of the problem (BAME populations are more likely to come from less affluent communities). However, again there is an increase in acceptances from people originating from the lower quintiles whilst BAME acceptance continues to decline (despite...

Re: Issues with Diversity in Clin Psy Trainees Recruitment
This a topic I’ve been quite close to over the past 12 months and have been working with part of a special interest group. The clearing house data over the past several years correlates with a rise in % of under represented/minority group applications vs % acceptance. The general trend is basically...

Re: Issues with Diversity in Clin Psy Trainees Recruitment
Comparative percentages indicate that the older u get, the less likely u are selected. I am pretty sure multivariate analysis would confirm it. I don't know if such discrimination is allowed any more, but I've always heard that the bias against older applicants is because the older you get the less...

Re: Issues with Diversity in Clin Psy Trainees Recruitment
I looked at these demographics fairly recently and found them interesting. From your post, there's quite a lot to unpack. What are the issues that you feel exist? What is defined as diversity, and what stage of the selection process are you looking at (accepted places or applicants, or both)? Divers...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .
I don't think there is any need to panic on that front, as you'll be offered a speed workshop for a first offence if you even get a ticket for that speed. Often your speedo shows a little more than the clocked speed, and they don't usually ticket at less than 10% over the limit unless there was a r...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .
1. I've had a lot of driving related woes. I recently got flashed on the M25 right at the point of the limit change (smart motorway). I was slowing down but didn't slow down quickly enough (got flashed 3 metres after the change). Was probably going ~53-55 in a 50 from a 60 zone. Yesterday I accident...

Re: Rejected due to my childhood trauma
Sorry, I'm not sure that I would be best to advise, but I thought I'd just reply to say how awful that is, I'm so sorry. I heard that some course centres featured in-depth personal interviews, and I was not entirely sure what to think about them. I don't know the full story and I wasn't there at the...
