Re: Trainee section?

I pop back when I can and read the forum messages, and respond if I can (try to) help. I feel that the site could still be useful for trainees to share stuff, like the mileage thread, but I only spotted that thread though as it had 'attention trainees' on, maybe we could do that? I would be interest...

Re: Any IPA pros out there?

Hi I am using IPA for my thesis and I would really appreciate a copy of the paper mentioned in the post above: Brocki, J. M., & Wearden, A. J. (2006). A critical evaluation of the use of interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) in health psychology. Psychology & Health, 21(1), 87-108. My Uni d...

Re: When will the uncertainty end!

Hi I was glad to find this thread as we were discussing these issues this week on training (in South West) and I was wondering what the national position was like. Like previously said, we have been told to almost get used to the idea that jobs may be private/community organisations and not to get w...

Re: DClinpsy and BABCP accreditation

We had some teaching on accreditation at Exeter, and we were told to keep records of CBT practice/supervision so that we can apply (if desired)and work towards accreditation. It sounds similar to what Ruthie did.

Re: Exeter

Hi Amanda1811 We did not find out where our placements were until the teaching block. If you are keen to move you could check with Liz Mears beforehand but there *may* be a possibility this would change before you start. You could check with your buddy where their placements were as well to give you...

Re: Exeter

Hi Mungle Just seen your post. I'm an Exeter trainee, are you coming later this year :D Mileage is paid from your placement base, so you can claim for client visits/meetings/travel to Exeter, but not from home to work. The only issue on my cohort has been for people who don't live in their placement...

Re: I want to change career to clinical psychology

Hi Andrew and Toria Thanks for your feedback. I can confirm that I was writing the post to share my experience to try to help people who may also be considering changing careers to pursue clinical psychology doctorate training from previous work in another industry, and are now looking to gain relev...

I guess our concerns were that people may not realise that the guidelines cover 'conduct outside your programme' (see section 7). Anything seen as misconduct (no time scales are stated) could prevent a person being able to register with the HPC upon qualification, which I see as pretty serious and ...

Hi mungle, Exeter Uni asks you to rate your preferences for your placement base at interview, and there are three main locality bases, Exeter, Bristol or Dorset. Currently 12 trainee places are in the North of the region (Bristol, Bath and Wiltshire), this will probably change as the Bath Uni course...

Hi Where did you hear that they were offering 14 places? We have been told at Exeter Uni that Bath Uni will offer 7 places in the north of the region (with Exeter keeping the other 7 in the north of the SW in 2011)

Hi I've just written a wiki for changing careers http://www.clinpsy.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10391 It'd be good to know if you find it useful! I did various temporary stuff after my first degree and then 4 years in project management and about 8 years in the media, where I was still working full...

You're both right, like loopylisa said the job list is for your most recent and relevant jobs, which includes voluntary work. If you have more relevant jobs than spaces I guess you have to choose which you want to highlight, that's the same for everyone. If want to mention your non relevant jobs its...

I would be surprised if selectors had the time to look at what other courses you had put down! Choosing geographically isn't necessarily a bad thing either - it shows you are pragmatic, have a good work/life balance etc. I agree that I would be surprised if selectors looked at the other courses you...
