Re: The multiple pathways to clinical training: lessons from a first year trainee

Just chiming in as someone who was successful on their 5th attempt. I got zero interviews for the last two years preceding this try. I spent years as a trial manager, getting bits of experience here and there through CPD placements, as well as support work. I have a psychology conversion course, too...

Re: Reserve list for interviews 2020

Hi everyone, I've withdrawn from my Leeds interview, so someone will have that soon hopefully.

Re: 2020 Clinical Doctorate Application Progress Thread

I previously posted about my rejections. 2016 - 2019 was a straight series of rejections from all universities.... Glasgow, Manchester, UEL, RHUL, UCL, Salomons ... the list goes on. This year: Glasgow Edinburgh Leeds Newcastle I am not posting this to gloat. Rather just to reiterate the nebulous, c...

Re: 2020 Clinical Doctorate Application Progress Thread

This is my 5th year applying and to be quite honest I thought last year was my last - I have never actually posted my progress on here before, but thought that by doing so I might help to give a wider perspective for those who like me 'lurk' on here and feel frustrated with what does feel like an u...

Re: 2020 Clinical Doctorate Application Progress Thread

I'm posting this in the spirit of the plea to post rejections, not just successes. I haven't heard from any of the universities I applied to this year, but wanted to give you all a run down of my lengthy reject experience to date. I have roughly 7 years' experience in support work, clinical research...

Sorry to see this outcome for you sorayarahall. I have applied for the doctorate four times. Last year, despite more experience and work as an AP, I received no interviews. It can be a brutal process but it's certainly resilience building! Good luck for your last option.

Re: Interview Feedback

Thank you everyone who responded to this. I really appreciate your thoughts. I don't think that interview feedback should be purely positive or shield you from obvious areas to improve on, but I think there couldve been more careful interview techniques and feedback. I've since secured an AP job in ...

Re: Interview Feedback

Thanks again! I tried to stress how important supervision is in dealing with difficult situations, as well as the feelings that can arise from trying to deal with them. I am pre-training and aware that there are limitations to my knowledge and experience. As you say, I don't think feelings of anxiet...

Re: Interview Feedback

Hi Chris Thanks very much for your reply. It's reassuring to know that other people can feel anxiety completing clinical work. It left me feeling pretty alone in that sense. I am wondering whether to feed this back to the HR service at the hospital, but I don't want to kick up a stink and scupper an...

Interview Feedback

Hi everyone, I am feeling very frustrated and disheartened about some recent feedback from an assistant psychologist interview. This was for a post working on an inpatient ward in London. Some useful feedback I was given was: - I need to structure my answers more in terms of what the situation was, ...
