Re: Psychology Undergrad Degrees with Placement Years
Not necessarily, just those where taking a year to complete a placement is an option.

Psychology Undergrad Degrees with Placement Years
Hi all, As a service we often offer placements to undergrad students undertaking Psychology degrees with a placement year. Usually we have had students from Cardiff, Loughborough, Surrey (Guildford) and Aston. However, I'm aware of Bath being an additional placement degree, and a very quick google s...

Re: Neuropsych assessment in adult mental health
people were referred for neuropsych assessments for a variety of reasons, e.g. financial capacity assessments, cognitive strengths/weaknesses, memory difficulties, and to assess for LD. Just to echo this, I worked in an acute neuropsych department for a year. My job was mostly to conduct a clinical...

Re: ASD and psychosis
Just wondering if anyone has any good references or advice on working with someone who has a diagnosis of Autism, mild learning disability and non-affective psychotic disorder? Just trying to decide if psychology can offer him anything that might work, over and above his medication. Or whether I can...

Basic WAIS IV question
I should know this... If someone has a variable WAIS IV profile, and two of their indices different, is it one or two standard deviations where would be starting to suggest the FSIQ is not a valid estimate of their general intellectual abilties? The scores I have in front of me are in the mid 70s fo...

Band 7 pay post-tax
Hi everyone, I'm sorry if this has already been asked before. I'm about to qualify and looking to move, and trying to figure out finances. Would anyone be able to answer the following? 1. What is the current monthly band 7 post tax amount excluding other deductions? 2. Does pension contribution/stud...

Any regression gurus out there?
Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone knows where I'm going wrong getting my regression from SPSS. I've basically got one dependent variable and 4 groups of independent variables (e.g. clinical variables, self report measures etc) that I want to explore and see if any predict the variance. I wanted ...

Re: Oxford course & placements
I'm in my 3rd year of the Oxford course and I have to say I'm still enjoying it (despite having days where I wish I'd never heard of clinical psychology). It has been a good experience and the course are really supportive. As for the quality of placements, this varies across the board depending on t...

Re: Clinical Training in Scotland - Aberdeen/Grampian
I don't mean this to put a dampner on things at all but I had 2 AP posts in Aberdeen. During my first one, there were about 6 of us regularly attending AP group meetings. When I left my second to start training, there was only one post still in existence, and that was non-NHS. The University might b...

Re: Quick question about the doors and people test
Thanks Gilly, I didn't have the manual just a photocopied sheet with the instructions on. The part of it I was doing involved presenting 4 simple line drawings of crosses. There's a copy part, and then they get 3 trials at immediate recall, and then there's a delayed recall. No recognition component...

Re: "it's just not evidence based"
Hi Eponymous85, I wrote an essay in my first year of training comparing CBT to psychodynamic psychotherapy for use with depression and considering the different mechanisms of change at work. There are a lot of studies that suggest the therapies are equally as effective as each other. I'd be happy to...

Quick question about the doors and people test
Hi all, Very quick question on the off chance that someone sees this before I have my appointment. Does anyone know how long the delay should be on the doors and people shapes test? Can't seem to find any guidance anywhere and I'm only using that particular subtest as part of a wider battery. Thanks...
