Re: Do referees receive a reminder from clearing house?

Yes, I've been a referee and got emailed several reminders. I think the final deadline for references is early January so don't panic just yet

Re: Can an employer rescind a job offer?

Unfortunately I was once involved in the recruitment of an AP where the post was rescinded after they were offered it, but before any hr/references were done. It was due to a significant restructure of the service that we'd not known about prior to the interview (and ultimately led to mine and the o...

Re: Part-time DClin after return from maternity leave

Does your course have a flexible working policy? Mine introduced one while I was where and they recommended that 2nd year should not be less than 0.8 and 3rd year 0.6. There were quite a lot of part-time trainees on my course. Also don't forget you are entitled to carry over your annual leave from m...

Re: Secure unit interview

I'm a qualified CP in secure services (well on maternity leave at the moment). Think about the additional challenges of this setting, what the role of psychology might be, mdt working stuff. I'd really encourage you to phone the interviewers and ask some questions, or even better ask to visit. I've ...

:o Another saying definitely appeal- what have you got to lose and it seems like an honest mistake. Do either of the handbooks make reference to one being the specific one to follow?

Re: Missing lectures/placement days for religious reasons

I have no idea, but some courses do regularly have teaching on Fridays- mine did throughout first and second year during term time

You could ask your academic referee to mention it?

Re: Pre-Doctorate Ideas

I started a 'couch to 5k' programme in the weeks before training and it was one of the best things I've done. I continued to run throughout my training and it really helped with my stress. Before training I also may caught up with friends, family did jobs around the house etc. Doing photo albums/boo...

Re: selfharm

I would definitely be taking this to supervision ASAP (assuming you are a AP), and if your supervisor isn't available another qualified member of the team. Have you done this? Also I think this request is quite identifiable. Highly unlikely your client will read it, but if they did they would realis...

Re: HELP! Condensing hours into 4 days OR or 30hrs over 4 da

It's obviously an individual choice, but I supervised an AP who changed their hours to 37.5 over 4 days and on top of their part-time masters and they found it pretty tough going, especially when there were lots of deadlines for uni that meant they were studying after work. It didn't leave them much...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1. It's been a while since I posted on here- think I've had an absence of thoughts!
2. Life with a 2 month old is tough, wonderful but tough
3. Seems bizarre to be thinking about keeping in touch days, childcare and working patterns already
4. I'm pretty sure my brain is mush
5. Sleep...

Re: Approved and Responsible Clinicians?

That's really interesting nettyb. The only CPs I know who have done or been offered the training are already 8cs or 8ds so it's difficult to know why they would take on the added responsibility. I'd also be interested in what support CPs get within the role- my experience of inpatient wards is that ...

Re: Manchester 2017

I trained at Manchester and Didsbury was definitely the most popular place to live, but actually we were a really spread out cohort. I would recommend looking at bus routes for getting to uni as piccadilly station is about a mile from the university and it is always raining! So most Manchester based...

Do you know anyone else doing similar private work? I know of a few CPs who bought a WAIS together and shared it. Or if they already have one they might hire it out?
