Re: Trauma Group

The perks of being a wallflower shows how someone may experience flashbacks following a trauma. Probably a lot of war films would too but I don't tend to watch these :)

Re: Pros/cons: working as a newly qualified in private hospi

I desperately tried to get an NHS post when I qualified but got the dreaded "someone with more experience..." response at a number of interviews. For me it was a case of taking a post with an independent service or not having a job to go to! Also, my specialist area was far and few between in the NH...

Re: Pros/cons: working as a newly qualified in private hospi

I did my first qualified post in a private service at band 7. Would agree with PP that it should really be 8a with the level of autonomy and responsibility. I think it's gives a lot of valuable experience being so autonomous from the start but I missed the value of having psychology colleagues in-ho...

Re: Any success for tax refund while training?

Our Trust submitted in June and I've just got all my cheques back, NI first, then tax a couple of weeks ago.

Re: agression/violence towards CP's especially when training

During training I only did home visits in my older adults placement, typically with individuals with mobility issues who couldn't get to the hospital I worked in. Consequentially, the risk of physical aggression felt very low.

Re: How long it takes for the NHS to send conditional offer

Do you mean unconditional offer? I was offered an NHS job two weeks ago and got the conditional offer letter through 2-3 days after being offered the post. This was at the same time as DBS checks and references and OH were sent out. I am still waiting for the unconditional letter once my referee has...

Re: EMDR and Blind people

This was discussed when I last went on EMDR training. It was suggested to use other forms of bilateral stimulation, as you said. If they were partially sighted then you could possibly try the eye movements and see if it was effective? They didn't have any formal references on this though.

Re: Any sucess for tax refund while training?

I appreciate that some people are uncomfortable with psychologists collectively claiming back such a large sum and you are entitled to that viewpoint, and it is a fair point that you've made and something I've certainly been mindful of when thinking about all this. I think it's unfair and a bit insu...

Re: Helping clients reflect on their own experience

Or does anyone know where I could find a copy of the Adult Attachment interview questions? (I'm not saying I'm going to try to deliver this without the full training, just that sometimes these kinds of questionnaires have some useful ways of framing things). There is an AAI interview template avail...

It wasn't quite clear from your message (unless I missed something - apologies if I have), but does this require students only?
