Re: How are clinical psychology jobs outside the UK?

There are several prior threads about this if you search. Short version is it depends on your career stage and which country you plan to go to.

Re: Essex interview feedback 2019

Sure, just 3 or 4 people each, that's what you've worked out from your guesswork/maths, and is just a requirement you expect clinicians to do as an unpaid service when competing with other demands? And of course a brief email isn't good enough so you want them to each phone you and give you personal...

Re: Essex interview feedback 2019

Why would you be surprised at needing to request feedback or being given a brief email response? I'd have thought that is more than most courses offer. They interview a lot of people! And why on earth would it be "unfair" if different members of the panel give feedback in different ways, or they gav...

Re: What to do next? Career advice!!

Almost no chance of getting an AP role, I'd say. So I'd focus on trying to get a paid post doing something relevant - working in a day hospital for older people with dementia, a group home with people with learning disabilities, a mental health ward, a children's home, a school, or a charity as a nu...

Re: Any advice on a shorter route?

Maven, by writing "clinical psychologist" i was not referring to my professional status, but more to my education. I understand the low side of this issue and never actually introduce myself as clinical psychologist anywhere in the UK. Was just trying to explain more about my education and backgrou...

I am a clinical psychologist
I'm sympathetic to your position, but that is an unlawful statement in the UK as you do not have HCPC registration. I strongly suggest you do not use it again.

I am not really sure how to reply individually but thank you to everyone who has replied, to answer the question of " why the rush?", that is more about my viewpoint of the world and my upbringing. If i dont get in straight away, i will feel like a failure and it won't be looked upon favourably in ...

Re: Psychology Degree Advice

Hi Best advice, I can give you is to make use of the youtube and resources outside of the university as they can be a bit "behind" the times and keep active in the forums. I would be VERY wary of relying on Youtube! Whilst I would fully support the notion of reading widely and adding to "set texts"...

Re: Am I doing the right thing ?

Geishawife has beat me to saying worrying about AP posts is premature and pointless - you might never need one, but even if you decide to go that route it is a couple of years away. I'm curious why you've taken such a circuitous course, via an unrelated undergrad, then an MA in counselling and psych...

Re: Worried about my disability

Its a legal requirement that every employer makes reasonable adjustment for disabilities. The NHS and academia are usually better at this than most other employers, and I'd be horrified if a clinical course was not able to let you have days off for appointments, as well as helping you plan how you w...
