Re: Recommended books for CBT/HI trainees?

I found the following really helpful: - How to Become a More Effective CBT Therapist: Mastering Metacompetence in Clinical Practice by Adrian Whittington and Nick Grey - Break Free from OCD by Challacombe, Oldfield/Bream and Salkovskis (and they've just released a newer version of this called Cognit...

Re: Dissertation idea - help!

I wonder if your potential supervisor (or a find a different one) could help you make this into more of a workable idea? What would be of interest to find out? in terms of population, could there be something around how people got into music in the first place (enjoyment, parental pressures, escapis...

Re: Commuting to Placements and Uni during training

The only option for me was to rent a room mid-week as the commute would have been too much, which I thought would spread me thinly financially (with rent, mortgage, balancing two cars with my wife etc). However, I found a room to rent ...

there's loads of cbt jobs these days in different settings and services which you would be able to work in. BABCP jobs website is a good place to look, plus all the other general job searches through google etc

Re: Caseload

i think it'll be down to what's right for you in terms of your needs and your service needs. I was in an older adult cmht for one day a week and would see 4 people at my base; two in the morning, two in the afternoon with supervision and admin time. If i was doing home visits then 3 as it was coveri...

Re: What experience did you have when you got on training?

My a-levels were pretty average and my degree was a low 2:1 and it felt at times that it would be a barrier to training. I was quite set on continuing on with the High Intensity CBT as there's some quite cool jobs ou...

Re: PWP BABCP accredition

It was a few years ago now but I remember thinking it was quite a straightforward process. In terms of whether it was worthwhile, I know on a Trust/Service level they were quite keen for us to be accredited, and on a personal level I wanted to do it to consolidate the years hard work and there's val...

Re: Supervision

Aside from the points already made, on a more general note about supervision, ideally you want someone who is consistent, reliable and will help you develop in areas you want/need in the context of your role. For the purpose of applying for training, it's not necessarily about having a CP as a super...
