Re: unsuccessful applications experiences?

^^^ As I was saying, it's a different class of clientele. Check out the number of male escort agancies that are out there and you might be surprised.

Not strictly true as there are many women who pay for sex through escort agencies. These tend to be very different class of clients to the men who purchase sex but still, the point is there are many.

Re: unsuccessful applications experiences?

I wonder whether there are a proprtion of people out there who have obtained places on the course because they vastly changed themselves as people in order to fit to the 'norm' ? If so I wonder why on earth anyone would do it, your attitude seems much wiser Peyman. ' Why would I want to be a vet wh...

Re: unsuccessful applications experiences?

Wow, I was totally unaware that my posts has stirred so many emotions! As I said in my original post, I shall not be applying for CP again for various reasons, mainly because of the conflicts it presents with some of my principles. Another reason is that obviously I am unable to express my views ade...

Re: unsuccessful applications experiences?

Ok, maybe I gave the wrong impression here, which is probably what I did at the interview :) But anyway, I think we are all intelligent adults and are capable of using our common sense in any given situation. Yes, it did cross my mind that perhaps the reason that the mother smacked her child may hav...

Re: unsuccessful applications experiences?

Ok, let me clarify what I mean by "don't be yourself" comment. I was certainly myself in that I was very relaxed, perhaps too relaxed, safe in the knowledge that this is not the end of the world for me if I don't get on. After all, I have a permanent job which I like, and I would have to take a sign...

Re: unsuccessful applications experiences?

This is an interesting thread and yes there is overlap with other similar threads. But anyway, I'd like to answer the question if I can. I will pick it up from a post-interview position. My experience as an unsuccessful applicant having attended 3 interviews in 2 years is that it all comes down to t...

Just as a side note and not a direct answer to your question, of all the interviews I have been to, there has never been a question of that kind.

Re: Trent Interview

Hi Chick, The Trent interview certainly is a lot more intense in that they fill out your day without having to hang around as much as you do at other places. Just to give you a rough guide as to what to expect, your first task is likely to be the group discussion. They will sit all the candidates in...

Re: For those successful, what do you think it was?

Hi Laura, Most interviews are structured so that the same questions are asked of every candidate. The interviewees are looking for certain answers in a broad sense. Your answers need to be along the right lines at the very least. Those who have a clue will give the answers most relevant to the quest...

Re: For those successful, what do you think it was?

Once at the interview, it comes down to performance. MSc, PhD, and all other acronyms go out the window. Put in a good performance at the interview and get an offer. Simple as that.

Re: Progress thread for Clinical Psychology applications 201

I can't believe some people still check the Clearing House status and actually care what it says :D I think it's been said many times before, the status on there is irrelevant. It's all in the hands of the course centres now which don't necessarily inform the clearing house, but rather the applicants.

Re: Birmingham interview

If you have an interview at Bham then I assume you have received the article they sent you? Read that and make sure you know it well. In the academic interview there will be a couple of questions about it to test whether you have understood it. As far as I remember, there was no other question other...

Re: Progress thread for Clinical Psychology applications 201

Leicester Trent Sheffield Birmingham I am not at all upset by these results but I wonder how they make their selection? Last year I got an interview at Trent and this year not even on the reserve list, despite the fact that my application is better if anything. I won't be applying next year again. ...

Re: Leicester Group Exercise

This exercise could take various forms. Most likely they will break people up in groups and ask a question. Then they ask you to discuss it as a group. They will thus observe everyone's participation and contribution, communication and interpersonal skills etc.
