Re: Can't make interview date

A similar thing happened to me and HR suggested I contact one of the panel, which I did. He said as it was a panel interview, it was doubtful they could rearrange it, but he'd try. He then got back to me and said they couldn't change it, so I guess its worth a try.

Re: Which conversion course would be best in my position?

I did the MEd at Manchester as my first degree wasn’t in psychology. It is very child focused, and most of the others on the course were teachers, but I know of others beside myself who subsequently got onto clinical training. I did it about 6 years ago and the staff were brilliant, very supportive,...

Re: What experience did you have when you got on training?

I agree they don’t specifically look at background, but your background does come into it, as your background is what informs your answers at interview….

Re: Knit and Natter...

I took up knitting again earlier this year, made a jumper!! I really want to knit a big Aran jumper for next winter; it’ll take me that long… but can’t find a pattern I really like, plus I’ve been too busy preparing for interviews recently to do any knitting. I also have a tendency to buy wool and a...

Re: Why Clinical Psychology/Psychotherapy - The truth

It’s definitely not the salary! I think I wanted to confront my son’s teachers from a secure knowledge base :x …is that a good enough reason to undertake something that’s taken 7 years hard work…probably not, but I think my motivations have changed along the journey…

Re: Group Interview Advice

I had a group interview a few years ago, and it was fine, I decided they just wanted to get an idea of how you are in group situations, do you take over the discussions and become overbearing? Are you so quiet you can’t get in the discussion? Are you assertive with your opinions? Do you have opinion...

Re: "The current climate" blues

Its jobs that were funded by outside agencies eg LA, they’ve cut the funding, so the jobs have to go. Where possible people are redeployed, but as CAMHS has a big cost improvement plan going on, and current vacancies are not being filled, some CPs are losing their jobs… and short term contracts are ...

Re: "The current climate" blues

I do think the job market for newly qualifieds is becoming more and more competitive. The trust I work for is making CPs with 3 or 4 years experience redundant, and with so few jobs about, they then go for band 7 jobs, which would traditionally have appointed newly qualifieds. ARGH!!

I guess it’s just another way of saving money, locum posts used to be filled through an agency, who would negotiate a higher salary and take their cut, so I guess it’s a cheap way of employing people in the short term. But it really annoys me!!! It’s rubbish especially for newly qualifieds….
