Re: Locum Clinical Psychologist

Just found out that they are planning to cap pay rates for locum workers next year:

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... cument.pdf

Bad news for locum workers that have already negotiated a relatively high hourly rate.

Re: Locum Clinical Psychologist

There are lots of agencies around and they all tend to compete in offering you the same jobs!

There are lots of locum jobs in CAMHS services.

I have to say so far I have found Pulse to be brilliant.

Locum Clinical Psychologist

Hello eveyone, I thought I would start a thread regarding locum work as a clinical psychologist. I qualified last year, came out of a perm NHS job due to various reasons, and have since done locum work...now coming up to around 4 months. I plan to continue as a locum worker for a further 6 months in...

Re: No job offer yet but references being chased post interv

That's not strictly true, JBoulton. It has become standard practice in the NHS to not offer jobs until all references have been received. Some trusts take this to the extreme of wanting literally ALL references in - even those for the people they don't want to appoint!! - before informing anyone of...

No job offer yet but references being chased post interview

Title says it all- I have never experienced this before in the NHS so I am a little puzzled. I have not had a call to say whether I have been successful yet but just a call from HR after my interview saying they are chasing up references and they need one more. Do they do this for all candidates the...

Re: The reality of being a psychology graduate

...she basically told me I smashed the interview but didn't get the job, which is incredibly confusing and demoralising. Yes no one is denying that it is a demoralising process. I am sorry if this sounds harsh, but at the end of the day they have to make a decision. It is fact that you can smash an...

Re: Move to bursaries instead of salaries for trainees?

For me personally- I don't think we stand a chance justifying continued funded places. ! I think CPs have had a lucky ride for too long! In order to justify funding we need to think about: - why was CP funded in the first place? My understanding is that there was a serious shortage of qualified CPs....

Re: Trainee Clinical Psychologist offering private therapy

Interesting discussion. I do feel ethically uncomfortable with it and wouldn't pursue it. I just wondered how people from the CP field felt about it as it is something more common in counselling/psychotherapy than clinical psychology.

Trainee Clinical Psychologist offering private therapy

I am just wondering what people think about Trainee Clinical Psychologists offering private therapy. I know a lot of counsellors that do private work, often in their own home. They are often accredited by a counselling body. I guess I am thinking about the ethical issues, the rules in terms of the t...
