Re: outcome measures in medical settings
The ones I could think of off the top of my head are: * Work and Social Adjustment Scale (WSAS) - asks how much XYZ (diagnosis, problem, etc.) affects different areas of a person's life. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11983645 * Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) - as it says on the t...

Re: Council tax for trainees
I am exempt from having to pay council-tax as the course counts as full-time education; my university (Salomons, Canterbury Christ Church University) gave me an exemption certificate. It was quite basic, just had the course start and end dates, my details, etc. Didn't experience any issues there :) ...

https://www.futurelearn.com/ https://www.coursera.org These two gold mines might also be worth looking at. Lots of interesting courses, mostly free, statistics, mental health, but also other things that could be of interested and might be stimulating in one way or another. I do agree with Esuma, try...

Hi pip28, I just tried to access the survey but the actual link has ellipses in the URL so I imagine it did not paste correctly?

Re: Salomons or Essex?
I guess if there's a lot of small-group work you get to know your cohort really well, so things may not seem quite so daunting after a while anyway! On the subject of "getting into small groups" I'd be interested to know what your experience of the teaching at Salomons has been? Is it an ...

Re: Salomons or Essex?
Hi Psyduck, I am at Salomons. In terms of the small-group discussions/presentations, I would say most teaching sessions involve more small-group than large group work. By the end of a course, you will probably roll your eyes when you hear "get into small groups", haha. There will be some p...

Re: Mental Health Nurse working towards Counselling Psycholo
There's a former MH nurse in my cohort, and I have learnt a lot from her, I think there are a lot of skills and knowledge that you will be able to draw on! (: Also, I did my undergrad at City and took a module in Counselling Psychology (which I really enjoyed). The lecturer seemed quite in favour of...

Re: NICE guidelines & service based research in the NHS
Hi Golightly, I don't think it's a naive question and I'm actually really curious to hear other people's experiences -- mine have varied in different work places. Some trusts are really keen on following NICE guidelines to the T, others are a bit more relaxed about it, and yet others don't seem to c...
