Re: Clinical Training in Scotland - Aberdeen/Grampian

I was referring to the assistant psychologist post that is being advertised in Aberdeen at the moment...Given that it is very unlikely that Grampian will have additional assitant posts anytime soon I thought you might find it interesting. As you regularly check the nhs scot jobs website I won't make...

Started a new thread as couldn't figure out how to change the title!

Moderator: I have merged the two topics for you, so both posts will now appear as this single thread.

Re: Applying with Aspergers Syndrome

Hi muggles. This is more a reassurance than anything else. I think there are other trainees and qualifieds out there who would agree that there are plenty practicing psychologists who may not have a diagnosis of AS (or declare one) but who most certainly do have strong AS characteristics! Like you s...

Re: Previous mental health - rejection?

The whole 2 years 'stable' thing is rubbish. I was offered a place and did the whole occupational health check. I was on antidepressants at the time of starting training and wouldn't have met the '2 years of stability (whatever that means)'. I still had some difficulties and occ health were supporti...

Re: When will the uncertainty end!

Hi schizometric - yes I am a second year. I know what you mean about 'not signing up to do private work'. To be honest I feel a bit uncomfortable at the thought of working privately - I like the NHS and want to work in it actually! But if I need money then that's just life. I enjoy therapy primarily...

Re: When will the uncertainty end!

After 7 years of studying you'd think it wouldn't be that much of an ask to get a job in the area you want in the speciality you want would you?! Ah well, I suppose this is real life so I better start adjusting! ...I think what IS an advantage now is that newly qualified clinical psychologists are b...

When will the uncertainty end!

I remember thinking when I got on to the course that I could finally relax about the issue of uncertainty. No more 6 month posts, no more 'applying for the next job', no more panic at the (lack of) bank funds. Ah. I miss that ignorant bliss. Little did I realise that training was actually a crash co...
