Re: The Progress Thread for 2013 Applications

so it is NO for me from Edinburgh, need to reconsider my career as I seriously question if I am the right type for this profession. Congratulations to all BLUES and keep your chin up everyone else, if we work hard, things will eventually happen (so I keep saying to me whilst stuffing my face with ch...

Re: Reserve Offer Places

I'm still hopeful for hearing by the 31st from Edinburgh, despite the various things they told us... Same here! I must admit I really cannot understand what is the point of keeping us in this uncertainty? Why they cannot say 'we send you email/call you on the such as such day' so people can get rea...

Re: Reserve Offer Places

I've also read on the progress thread (?) that Edinburgh might release results towards the first week of June, which is a cruel wait for the applicants, and a long one for us. Anybody on here with an offer to Glasgow waiting on more results? Hello fellow waiting people! :D Totally echo you, Blue86....

Re: edinburgh interviews 2013

So sorry you had such an experience, but from the sound of it, you seem to take quite a positive view! Hope you had something exciting planned for the weekend? I only ever expected a rejection and some feedback and that is almost certainly what I'll receive. Oh, don't despair - I happen to meet few ...

Re: edinburgh interviews 2013

as it seems we all pretty much on the same boat, some did better on clinical, some on academic, hardly anyone finished the task, I myself was driven by sugar (had like 3 shortbread!), now we can only wish for the best. Must admit I find extremely hard to concentrate on anything else, this is so impa...

Re: edinburgh interviews 2013

I agree with you on all points! The problem with the 3 minute-paper-task for me was that it would really have changed my 3-minute-answer if I had known there would be no further questions where I could bring up everything else I had found out. Just making that clearer in the instructions we got wit...

Re: edinburgh interviews 2013

...actually, the fact we are talking here about in such details shows that this really was an in-depth interview, doesn't it? Certainly a food for thought, for me at least! Anyone feeling that too?

Re: edinburgh interviews 2013

For the paper we prepared, I spent -weeks- analyzing it and ended up with a huge list of detailed criticism. I spent so much time trying to understand the stats in this paper. And I thought the three minute presentation would just be to give an overview and then they would ask further questions on ...

Re: edinburgh interviews 2013

I felt like they wanted to get to know me (which, before Newcastle, I thought would be a given with these types of interview! But no!). Despite feeling like I messed up in a lot of ways, the whole day was so much more enjoyable than Newcastle and it made me want to be at Edinburgh far more in the f...

Re: edinburgh interviews 2013

It's tempting to hope that we all had a similar experience and so I'm still in with a shot... but hope is freaky! ( :bom: ) Everyone I spoke to feels as if they messed up big time! I even overheard people saying it was rather tough experience in comparison - I must say I did enjoy their refreshment...

Re: edinburgh interviews 2013

very similar here - I found the first part really grilling, rumbled through the questions (esp the third)...the second part was a bit better, the task was quite fun, I thought (but I am weird, I like stats too  ) Overall, I feel I didn't do too badly but not too great either - now we need to j...
