Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2014 Applications

Hi, Just received my final rejection and..it kind of sucks! I was OK with the first three I suppose but to get that final 'no' is not a nice feeling. Anyway, October is not far away so let's build up that experience and have another go. Well done to those with interviews and reserve places, I hope y...

Re: So it turns out my interview skills kind of suck!

@Serendipity5 & Hol1305 Thank you so so much for your kind and wise words and the very helpful advice. I really appreciate it! Anyway, after feeling quite low and ready to look into other possible careers, I received a call today regarding one of my interviews I attended weeks ago and... I got t...

Re: MSc - is it worth it?

Hi Md21, Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I think you have pretty much given me my answer and more to scrupulously analyse  Yes, my fees are £6500 this year with no financial aid available - so it would really be a leap of faith and in a way I feel quite selfish putting that extr...

Re: Why do so many women study psychology?

Definitely agree with Megzi that there is probably a perception around empathy and sensitivity - but I imagine that theres also some perception around it not being as rigourous a subject - and that its all fluffy and waffly. I'm a guy, and doing my undergraduate, the engineers I lived with would of...

Re: MSc - is it worth it?

Hi, I'm not sure if I can tell you whether it's worth it or not. I too obtained a First Class Psychology degree and got conflicting advice on whether to pursue a masters degree or not. Eventually I did do a masters and do feel that it has helped somewhat as it allowed me to gain research experience ...

Re: So it turns out my interview skills kind of suck!

It is difficult to give you advice considering we do not know the specifics about your interview, and you have already done the basics of interview prep. You have also made an assumption that the interviewers are somehow not being "honest" with you. I guess that got me wondering about the...

So it turns out my interview skills kind of suck!

At first my application forms needed a lot of work. I worked on those and eventually started to get interviews. This of course made feel very happy as my work was paying off. However, now that I am getting interviews, I stumbled upon another problem: my interview skills. Although the interviewers wo...

Re: A suggestion for NHS jobs website ?

By the way, I received a reply from them saying the following: Dear "My name" Thank you for your suggestion for an application counter to be shown for vacancies advertised through NHS Jobs. Your suggestion will be passed to the service management team for consideration with future enhancem...

Re: A suggestion for NHS jobs website ?

It's a tricky situation, and has been discussed here at length. However, at least you are trying to come up with some kind of solution and actively sending in the suggestion, rather than just moaning, so don't think you sound angry and irrational. In the meantime, have a search of the forum to find...

Re: A suggestion for NHS jobs website ?

What I have noticed in the last few days is that a few of the London AP posts are advertised on NHS jobs but with links to the trusts' own websites where you have to set up an account and enter all of the information that is normally stored in your nhs job profile. Perhaps as this takes a little wh...

Re: A suggestion for NHS jobs website ?

A great idea...the current system is seriously flawed and does not (always) give the best candidates the opportunity to apply for jobs, or for employers to get the best candidates (in my opinion and experience). I agree, I also think it's flawed. I just sent them an email and will keep asking them ...

Re: A suggestion for NHS jobs website ?

Thank you for your replies! @ Midas: Thanks for the link, will give that a go! Didn't know websites such as Reed already have a similar system, I'm hoping this means it's not mission impossible then. @ Spatch: Yeah, I'm not sure how feasible it is either and can imagine that the applicants' feelings...
