Re: Golden nuggets of advice

Really good points but can I add:  don't read this list as a whole lot of do's and donts otherwise it'll be overwhelming. Everything helps, but remember to live whilst you're doing it. If I make a list of the different things I've done over the years it looks pretty impressive, but many of th...

Re: Doctorate courses in Canada

I know someone with very similar experience to what you describe (year assistant, year research, year abroad voluntary work - though perhaps more clinically based than yours) who got onto the course straight away (they applied whilst still abroad), but they did get three straight rejections too. At ...

Re: anyone ever used data analysis on excel

I've used excel for t-tests in the past and it's matched spss. There are also online t-test calculators that might help.

Also rather than doing it by hand, to be sure you can program the t-test into excel manually. Will take less time and have more certainty :)

Or some more caption competitions, I love those. I'd buy a mug with one of those on.

Re: ClinPsy Merchandise?

I would be most likely to buy something practical, so pens or pencils, and also you know those little keyrings you get with a coin size metal disc with a logo on it that you can remove and use in shopping trolleys, I would definitely buy one of those. The logo could go on the 'coin'. These: http://w...

Re: Take it or leave it (game)

Leave, it'd take me half a day to get to work and back for .1 of a day.

Chick pea curry, a nice cup of tea, and an evening watching the apprentice before collapsing in a nice freshly washed bed?

Re: A-Levels after a degree

I agree with everyone else, in fact not having a levels at all may put you in a stronger position than if you'd done then and got bad results. At least this way conclusions can't be drawn.

Re: Preparing for training

Honestly, once you start training you'll be busy learning all of the stuff you need to train, you've got a place on the course (well done :D) because you've proved that you're at a level appropriate to the training. So relax, breathe, spend the next few months doing all those things you've put off, ...

Re: Quick APA referencing question - is this right?

Looking through the APA lite guide references on the page h2eau linked you to I think it should be more like one of these (taken directly from guide): National Institute of Mental Health. (2002). Breaking ground, breaking through: The strategic plan for mood disorders research of the National Instit...
