Re: Unsure what to do

Hi Poppy, had a similar role that had no structure and the guidance for the role was very minimum. I worked with physical health nurses who had limited understand of psychology or what role psychological therapies played. However, I did have supervision from a clinical psychologist who was pivotal i...

Re: Anybody else feeling hopeless about finding a relevant job?

I'm not sure if what i'm about to say is helpful or not. I graduated from my BSc in 2011 and my MSc in 2013. I've picked up a couple of jobs that was more mainly physical health care research. It was loosely relevant as I got to learn more about research in general and more broadly about clinical tr...

Re: Assistant Practitioner Vs Assistant Psych

If it helps the role I've been doing was an Assistant Practitioner with a very vague job description. Some of the assistant practitioner post have a more nurse orientated but mine I've been able to adapt to be more psychology focused. I was fortunate enough to be allocated a clinical psychologist as...

Re: 2:2 Undergrad - Where to go from here

I also have a 2:2 and I can certainly say that I am not prepared to give up so nor should he if it's something he strongly wants to achieve. I have completed a MSc (taught course) and I have had a couple of AP interviews with some great feedback. Every psychologist I have come across (either at inte...

^ I'm so in on the bunny love. They're such sociable little creatures, such personalities. I can't imagine not having a littlun hopping round my feet at home these days. Methinks we need a bunny chat thread. :D I totally agree sweetpea, a bunny thread would be an awesome idea, filled with all their...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

4. I'm fostering a rabbit at the moment. It's been quite difficul to get her eating post-neuter but thankfully she's eating her hay now. Phew! ^ Ahh! One of my boy buns recovered super quick after being neutered, but the other took a good few days. Not sure I took my eyes off him til he finally sta...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1. Feeling really down and frustrated after not getting an AP post. 2. Trying to make myself feel better knowing that I couldn't cope financially on a part time wage. It wasn't ideal and clearly wasn't meant to be. 3. Also to get an interview for an AP post is success in itself (isn't it?). 4. I rea...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1. Feeling quite pants as I've been in an office all on my own.
2. It's my last day and no one is here.
3. I've been told there's a card but they wanted to give it to me when the whole team is around.
4. Glad the sun is out and hope it stays nice for the weekend.
5. I still feel pretty pants :(

1. What is up with the weather today? Can you just make up your mind if you're going to rain just rain! 2. I am so proud of myself for trying a new gym class and going to my normal gym class. I will get fit! 3. I'm really dubious over the new job. Should a squeamish person try and overcome this in o...

That's good to hear :) I hope the interview went well.

I think the consequences of being found out lying are normally a lot worse than being truthful.

Re: Approaching different department

Did you do it? :) There's a funny end to the story... I didn't have to in the end. I work alongside a health psychologist who knew another trainee who was working in the department. She put me in contact and told me about a volunteer AP post. So I went to an interview for the volunteer post and got...

Re: Is honesty always the best policy?

I just thought I would post the outcome. My current manager was really positive and supportive. She asked me a few questions about the role and how I was preparing. It turns out honest is the best policy on this occasion or at least I hope there's no backlash.

Re: Is honesty always the best policy?

Thanks for your reply BenJMan :)

Well my boss seemed supportive over the internal interview so I would hope that she would feel the same over this one. She even said that she didn’t expect me to stick around (which I hope is a positive remark rather than “I can’t wait to see the back of you”).

Is honesty always the best policy?

Hi All, I just want to hear what other people's ideas are on telling your current employer about having time off for an interview. Here is my current predicament: I have been invited to an interview for an AP role. I have booked the last slot of the day so that I wouldn’t have use too many holiday h...
