Application form question: Other information about yourself eg activities/interests apart from psychology.)
There is a box on the DClinPsy application from which asks for: "Other information about yourself eg activities/interests apart from psychology. (750 character limit for this question)" I have been told that we should show in this box that we have life outside psychology so that we can com...

Re: DClinPsy Application Form Relevant Experience Section
Thank you so much Maven, Hawke and Elsaar who replied to this. On the basis of your recommendations I have decided to basically ignore the instruction (below) from the application form and instead include my more relevant volunteer work etc. "If there are any periods of your adult life not acco...

DClinPsy Application Form Relevant Experience Section
I am in my mid 30s and have quite a lot of fairly irrelevant experience, (as well as a good amount of relevant experience).I also spent a couple of years wandering around Asia. One section of the application from says: "If there are any periods of your adult life not accounted for in the Experi...

Anyone else done/doing the Qualification in Counselling Psychology?
Following my 3rd year of rejection from the DClinPsy I have started to look seriously at my other options and think I might do the Qualification in Counselling Psychology. I contacted a few supervisors last year and they emphasised the sheer amount of work involved and encouraged me to do a taught d...

what is 'supportive therapy'
I have noticed that the NICE guidelines sometimes mention something called 'supportive therapy'. What is this? I spotted it in the social anxiety disorder guidelines where it says; 'Do not routinely offer mindfulness-based interventions or supportive therapy to treat social anxiety disorder.' Can an...

Re: What is the view on the Clinical Associate Psychology Masters?
Even though I completely understand the need for close supervision, it can feel a little frustrating to be signing off formal letters to colleagues with "under the supervision of...". I feel this particularly when compared to professions where only the three-year undergraduate is required...

Re: Rejected from interview due to references. Thoughts...?
Thanks so much for your replies. I will request to see the references and see what seems to be the problem. Sorry that this happened to you too Heg124, I hope you got some interviews elsewhere. The content of references is so arbitrary to the referees character so it seems mean to reject people on ...

I think Edinburgh must have looked a my reference out of context, I mean without looking at my other qualifications, and rejected me because I am ranked low in the cohort of my CBT masters.

Rejected from interview due to references. Thoughts...?
Hello, I just discovered I didn't get an interview from Edinburgh because of my references. They said: "Your References did not meet our essential minimum criteria" I emailed the course asking which and how. (Though I don't expect a response.) I also emailed my referees and hope I ...

Re: English person applying to Ireland
Thanks for everyone's responses. But... I am still uncertain about if I meet the criteria needed to apply for the DClin in Ireland. Galway responded to my query and said: An honours Degree in Psychology (or Postgraduate Higher Diploma in Psychology) of at least Upper Second-Class Honours (2H1) level...
