Re: What jobs to list under employment history?

Hi, I used to work in various bars/ restaurants whilst I was at uni and I remember that for my first psychology-related job I listed each of them separetely. Now, after getting few years experience of working as an HCA, RA etc. I just tend to combine some of them together. For example, I put somethi...

Re: Stupid question - sleep deprivation apologies!

No, you don't. You just need a document confirming your GBC status (letter from university, letter from BPS, or your academic transcript with this information on it).

Re: Offer to start date with the NHS

Hi, last year I had an interview at the beginning of January and started my new job mid April. I'd suggest contacting the HR department if you don't hear from them after 2-3 weeks of providing them with all the paperwork. In my case, they were just waiting for one of my references...When I found out...

Re: Internship evaluation - How to learn from criticism?

Hi, What do you mean by saying that you 'trust' the students? I used to work in secure hospitals where boundaries had to be in place at all times. For example, I would not share too much personal information with the patients or I would not put myself in potentially dangerous situations such as goin...

Re: research assistant job

Firstly, congratulations on getting the job! Secondly, I'm sorry but 'conducting clinical trials on mentally ill patients' sounds... well, just wrong! I understand you're a recent graduate but maybe try to pay some more attention to the language you use, especially if your new job involves working w...

Re: Recommended holiday reading?

If you like psychological thrillers I can recommend books by Andrew Gross and Lisa Gardner. They're easy to read and it's really hard to put them down!

Re: Why don't more people apply for private sector AP posts?

The easiest way to find some AP jobs: type into google: 'assistant psychologist jobs' or 'psychology jobs'! Maybe not all the results will be relevant, for example, in my searches 'KFC Assistant Restaurant Manager' came up on a few occasions :) but you can find several private companies and charitie...

Re: Low/Mid/High 2:1

I've just checked my transcript and it also doesn't show the 'final' grade. I was under the impression that my grade was 65%. Now, I've realised that although I got 65.3% in my 3rd year, in my second year I got only 63.3% which makes my final grade 64.5% I suppose...(2nd year worth 40% and 3rd year ...

Re: Interventions Facillitator interview advice

Hi I had an interview for this post last year and I had a similar interview task although the topic was different. It's quite challenging as you need to engage the panel in your presentation and simply asking them questions might not really work. Maybe think of a scenario related to the topic and pr...

Re: Preparation for starting a healthcare assistant job

Get some rest :) most health care assistant jobs involve working long days/evenings/weekends/ nights so try to enjoy the free time you've got now. Start your new job with an open mind and be yourself. Although, working as an HCA can be stressful at times, it is a job that gives you a lot of opportun...

Re: Clinical Support worker job

I agree with everything that's been said before. Working in a secure hospital is not as 'scary' as some people make out. I used to work in a low/medium secure hospital and i had days when I spent hours on the floor restraining patients but i also had days when i was drinking coffee and chatting to p...
