Re: Trent 2016

Hi guys!! Congratulations on getting a place on the doctorate! :) I'm a current first year at Leicester living in Nottingham, and I hope this doesn't break any site rules (feel free to delete admins if it does) but if anyone is looking to move to Notts I have a spare room in my flat come September w...

Re: CV of failures

ha, this is a wonderful idea, However I think my list would be far too long to post in full. A worrying amount of people tell me they enjoy having me in their lives, as my misfortune makes them feel better about themselves haha. I do my bit to help people feel better about themselves! I thought I'd ...

Re: Durations of Placements: Do They All Last for a Whole Ye

Hi As you wanted some info on Leicester I thought I'd chip in. I'm a first year and I am currently on a year long placement (November - September), as are most of the people in my cohort, however there are a few people who are on two 6 month placements (which are actually a bit shorter than 6 months...

Re: Tattoo sleeve - employment hindrance?

I don't have a sleeve but I do have lyrics which stretch across my inner lower left arm, and it's never been an issue for me. When I worked on the wards where it was bare below the elbow I was one of many people who had tattoos on display, and I'm pretty sure that I didn't have it fully covered duri...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

My last relationship ended in a spectacularly awful way and I'm still hurting over it. Separating myself from reminders was the only way to begin to function normally again. It's tough and it will sting, a bit like ripping off a plaster, but it will make you feel so much better in the long run. A t...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1. Had a pretty terrible weekend and I feel I may have lost a few people over it which sucks. I was definitely not ready to be around my ex this weekend as it brought up way too many emotions and old feelings. As much as I love our mutual friends, I think that maybe for my well-being for the foresee...

Re: First AP interview - Severe Eating Disorders

This. Congratulations on the interview coming. In terms of general advice for AP posts, you may get some common questions. The general themes of these can be picked up from the wiki link in regards to interview questions. From past experience these generally are risk, use of supervision, team work, ...

Re: Concerns over a low grade in MA

As others have said, if your undergraduate was in Psychology and was BPS accredited then you will not need to submit your MA transcript and you will only need to report your overall grade for this. I would also think that in general, most courses would be looking at your overall grade rather than yo...

Re: AP Application - what is expected from essay?

As someone who used to work in what seems to be a very similar post to what you're applying to, I'd say you are definitely thinking along the right lines with the example you've thought about. I would try not to focus too much on the psychological theory side of things as that is not what they have ...

Re: Shocking true confessions - My Selection Hell

Oh yeah, I completely get what both of you are saying. It would be great if it wasn't capped or that there was some easy way to filter out those who did not meet the criteria. For my previous role, they didn't place a cap on applicants and they had to sift though about 225 applications which is a ma...

Re: Shocking true confessions - My Selection Hell

Hi guys, I just wanted to add to this and vent my frustrations. I have just finished helping out with the first stage of shortlisting for my current role (AP) and I am pretty amazed and shocked by how few applications have actually managed to get through to the next stage after ensuring very basic c...
