Re: Reserve lists for places query

It varies from course to course (doesn't everything!). To my knowledge it would tend to never be less than about half the number of course places, and the maximum I am aware of is everyone who meets the requires standard following interview, ranked in interview score order....so potentially could be...

Re: Visa related issue

For a funded place you absolutely need permanent leave to remain and work.

I should think, as the poster above has highlighted, that you would be allowed to self fund.

Re: Fast track A-levels to increase options

A publication will help your academic profile, but won't "make up" for poor a level grades. I'd specific a level grades are required to get past the admin sift, then you will need to have them. The fast track a level plan sounds more sensible and more achievable than trying for a publication. Good l...

Re: Private sector and negotiating pay

Oh good grief no, don't bring it up at interview unless they ask! Which they probably won't. Wait and see if there's a salary offer with the job offer and start from there (you never know, they might offer you the salary you are thinking of, and then there's no need to negotiate!). You could even th...

Re: Private sector and negotiating pay

Pretty sure I've posted about this. I've worked in the private sector and did negotiate my salary, successfully. Some things to bear in mind: There are not usually automatic increments, or even automatic annual salary reviews in the private sector, so you want to be aiming for the sort of salary you...

Hey Sam What bit of this are you after advice with? I guess there's lots of "received wisdom" sayings that could apply here: A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush Don't count your eggs before they've hatched etc You are highly likely to get a place on either one of the self-funding masters cou...

Re: 'considered for interview shortlisting 2018'

Oh! We go here every year, don't we. I'm not sure how helpful it is for courses to frame it at this stage as "having been selected", since that, understandably, kindles hope when, as the OP says, almost every application makes it past the initial minimum criteria screening (unless the applicant has ...

Re: Is my permanent job guaranteed when a service is retende

As maven points out, TUPE regulations mean your job is as protected as it is now. However, something I have personal experience of is that a permanent job is only as permanent as your notice period. Factors in your favour are that lower bandings tend to be left alone in service redesign, whereas hig...

Don't think there's a wiki...but I know we've debated at length elsewhere on the forum, i'll see if I can search it up, I know I contributed.
