PTSD

Dear all, I am currently doing a literature review on access to PTSD services and am just wondering how IAPT services would fit into this? Since the IAPT website is no longer up and running, I've found it a little difficult to gather info. I am wondering if any of you could offer any insight? My ass...

Re: Generalisation in Autism

When I first read this it made me think of the DSM-5 criteria of 'Inflexibility of behavior, difficulty coping with change, or other restricted/repetitive behaviors appear frequently enough to be obvious to the casual observer and interfere with functioning in  a variety of contexts. Distress and/or...

ASC training/reading?

Hello all! I am wondering if anyone can recommend any Autism specific books/training which are not too basic and focus on assessment/communication/interventions etc? I have a fair bit of prior (though rusty!) knowledge as I looked at Autism for my undergrad dissertation and have worked in a couple o...

Re: Working with people from minorities - official guidance?

Hello Alexander. This may be a naive reply, but I think that starting by spending time with people is often the best way to find out more about issues which are important to them. I also imagine there must be a lot of community groups (specifically in your case Somali Muslims but also other 'groups'...

Wow congratulations! That is very very exciting! TBH I have no idea about training courses. Is it worth contacting individual courses to clarify if they do deferred places? Good luck with this exciting time!

Power relations reading

Hi there! I'm wondering if anyone has any links around power relations between Psychologists and people using services or differing power relations between various health professionals, or in relation to researchers and 'the researched'? Am sure things have come up on here before, but can't seem to ...

Re: Interview questions for the interview panel

I agree with Loula - it doesn't come across well when people either pose questions which could already have been answered with minimal effort/ingenuity or which seem to have been plucked out of thin air and irrelevant! I do think it's better to say that no, you don't have any questions rather than t...

Re: Employer references problem! help

Hi charlisteele! One option might be to sign up for bank HCA work with your local NHS Trust or any private mental health/neuro-rehab based hospitals. This way you may be able to work a shift or two each week which would get you some more experience in a different setting whilst not having to rely on...

Re: Application 2016 despair already

Bother! I was working on the assumption (DOH!) my 2:1 was a 'high' 2:1, but then realised that I'd simply used an average of all the scores across all 3 years............................ I think I probably need to just use the second 2 years and of course my grades somehow got worse as the course we...
