Re: Plans for the year ahead

Apologies in advance if my question derails this thread a little, but this is the second time recently that a thread has mentioned a low 2:1 and I wanted to ask a quick question as I have clinical experience and a good mark from a recent, relevant post-grad certificate, but my psych degree is a low ...

Re: Getting relevant experience for a Dclin without prior ex

Hi Jason, I remember the frustration of feeling unable to apply for jobs due to not having the relevant experience but not knowing how to get the experience in the first place; it can feel so difficult when you first leave uni! As someone with no NHS experience either, I wanted to echo Miriam's post...

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2015

Cardiff Plymouth Trent Lancaster >> Lancaster First time applying and didn't expect to be successful at interview, but it was a really positive experience and helped give me some pointers about areas I can develop for next year. Congratulations to all the blues and good luck to anyone still waiting...

Re: Interview failures to successes

Hi Anniecat, I've been following this thread with interest as I'm in a similar position to you with this being my first year applying and having one interview (which wasn't successful). I had similar feelings about the interview with feeling convinced that I wasn't going to be successful and feeling...

Re: Newman University MSc September 2015

Hi, Do you mean the Clinical Applications of Psychology MSc? You wouldn't need to apply through UCAS for this course as it is a taught masters, just download an application form from the website. They do start taking applications for this quite early though, it might be good to contact them and find...

Re: Life After Suicide - BBC

Hi Jyddx, I haven't yet watched this so can't offer any views on the programme. However I found a similar thing in my undergrad/early experience, in that there wasn't much teaching which actually touched on practical suicide prevention skills. About 4 years ago, I went on the ASIST training course (...

I am now: Plymouth Cardiff Lancaster Trent First time applying.... didn't expect to get anywhere so really pleased with Lancaster! Congratulations to the greens and commiserations to those with reds, it is such a difficult process especially with so little feedback. Be kind to yourself this weekend :)

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2015

I just wanted to hopefully relieve people's anxieties about when Plymouth are letting everyone know. I did crack and email them this morning.... The letters were posted Tuesday & yesterday and Plymouth have updated the clearing house so this should be visible on the site today or tomorrow (If...

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2015

For anyone waiting on Cardiff, just spoken to the (ever helpful) office at Cardiff Uni. They are finalising results now and hoping to have them all out (by email - from them not the clearing house) tomorrow, if anyone’s waiting, so I thought I’d share for other nail biters. Thanks for this, will be...

Re: How do undergrads get relevant experience?

I'm not sure from your post how much experience you already have, so forgive me if I'm aiming my advice at the wrong level.... If you don't have much experience to build on, aiming for positions such as support work or voluntary work such as Nightline, Childlike, Samaritans, befriending etc might be...

Re: Applying for 2015

Thanks all, that is really helpful. Now my submit button has disappeared  luckily lots of people have posted tips on this before. Really glad others have managed to fix this issue :) If you finish your changes, log out and log back in, the submit button should be visible again after you log i...
