Re: CAMHS eating disorder HCA interview

That's great! Yeah I suppose you could just pick up the odd shift here and there. Where is the ED job if you don't mind me asking? Thanks! That's the idea, it's at Royal Free hospital. I'm thinking of leaving my current job altogether and just becoming a bank worker. I'm NHSP registered too so I ca...

Re: CAMHS eating disorder HCA interview

Sorry to hear that. That has to be one of the most frustrating things in the world! Have you thought about joining a staff bank/agency and looking out for shifts on ED wards? Funny enough they called me back the next day to ask if I'd be interested in becoming a bank staff with the opportunity of b...

Re: CAMHS eating disorder HCA interview

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I had my interview today. Unfortunately I've been told that I didn't get it because the other candidate had experience with Eating disorders. It comes down to that frustrating cycle of needing experience to get experience.

CAMHS eating disorder HCA interview

Hi all, I have an interview as a HCA in the CAMHS eating disorder ward and would like advice in regards to questions they could possibly ask in the interview. I'm thinking that they might ask about the challenges of working with ED patients. They can be very critical of staff and will push boundarie...

Re: Advice for PICU psychosis female ward

Thank you so much for the advice everyone, it was tough week last week, my local induction in general was poor, I didn't get to shadow anyone, nobody was really showing me things or even telling me what to do, so I was constantly on edge and feeling like a bother. Now that I'm on numbers the situati...

Advice for PICU psychosis female ward

Hi all, So this week was my first week within a PICU psychosis female ward and it's interesting, terrifying but interesting. Being my first time within an inpatient setting there's that period of feeling lost and confused that will take time for me to adjust to, one patient in particular seems to ge...

Re: Current progression update and a bit of general advice.

Definitely agree, I will take this all into account, I feel like I'm in a good place at the moment. I'm on track and perhaps by next year I'll feel ready to apply. I'll see where the voluntary research takes me, it's only data entry and management but I still feel like I'll learn a lot. I intend to ...

Re: Current progression update and a bit of general advice.

Thanks for the advice. You're right, I am having application anxiety and I should relax a bit more. I don't think I'll ever pursue paid work within research as I do believe clinical experience is more valuable and I definitely enjoy it a lot more. The honorary position is only 12 weeks and I only in...

Current progression update and a bit of general advice.

So the last time I posted here it was in regards to me worrying about ever getting any experience within a clinical setting. So a lot have changed since then, Kids company obviously closing down had me frantically searching for a job, I managed to find work as a support worker within an adult autism...

Re: Getting relevant experience for a Dclin without prior ex

Hi MarkM, thank you for the very helpful reply and the welcome. I have applied for about 14 positions in total so far, though I'm aware that due to not having my results as of yet it will be difficult to apply now. Unfortunately I'm not in a position where I can afford to volunteer anymore as I have...

Getting relevant experience for a Dclin without prior exp?

Hi all, recently finished my Bsc at Middlesex university with an expected result of a 2.1 or borderline 1st. While waiting for my results I have been browsing for some positions that would provide me with the clinical experience needed before applying for a doctorate course in Clinical psychology. O...
