Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

***[potential trigger warning for point 1]*** 1. I am so glad I had a counselling session today. On Wednesday night I intervened in a stranger's suicide attempt in the middle of the street and since then I've been incredibly sad. Not sure if it's to do with that or a change in the routine of my ant...

Re: NHS-funded private service: still an NHS employee?

Yikes, that's certainly important to be aware of! Thank you.

I've also found some with "Independent NHS Organisations". I assume that's still NHS but not part of a broader Trust?

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1. First lazy day at home in a long, long while... what have I even been doing? 2. Decided to start looking for a new job (due to practical considerations) and flooded with anxiety about it. I hate change and I hate writing applications. 3. Been thinking a lot about career recently. There's too much...

Re: Current GMHW Training?

Hi there, Unfortunately I'm not really involved in the application process and am also terrible at writing job applications myself! In all honesty I'm not sure how I got an interview, even though it was about two years ago. It may just be in the way you have written your application? We also get mas...

NHS-funded private service: still an NHS employee?

Hi all, Please forgive me if this has been asked elsewhere. I am currently a PWP in an NHS IAPT service but am considering moving to a different service which is (much!) closer to home. It is a private company who are funded by the NHS CCG in my area and so they accept patients under NHS. They offer...

Re: Current GMHW Training?

You may be right in that it could be a political hot potato. I believe that the GMHW role is what existed before PWPs? I am sure they won't be offering anything illegal but I do have some concerns that my role may not be transferable outside this trust.

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1-4. My immediate colleagues and I in this band and higher need to re-apply for our jobs. Several important posts are getting axed entirely, or halved. Work feels hopeless right now and morale is seriously suffering. 5. Christmas is stressful and expensive and a major sore point since my family are ...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1. Somehow, telling myself "BORED NOW" as soon as I start ruminating over old topics is becoming really helpful...I don't think I can suggest it to clients though somehow. 2. I had a very valuable counselling session last week, which I was dreading. I didn't want to talk about that issue, but the fa...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1) Soundtrack to the afternoon's working/study - Disturbed. This whole doctorate has been fuelled by metal. Nice! :D 1. Moved house yesterday. Started unpacking today. About halfway done apart from the terrible number of vaguely-miscellaneous boxes. Ick. 2. Lots and lots of work stress at the momen...

Re: Current GMHW Training?

But as far as I'm aware you can't go straight from GMHW --> PWP (despite doing the same tasks) without doing the PGCert/PWP course, which kind of adds to that feeling. Just popped in here to update and re-read this. I was wrong. I've just been promoted in-house to a Band 5 PWP role after being a Ba...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1. I got a promotion :) I am now a GMHW-turned-PWP 2. Just had a triage for my local IAPT service. I hope they offer me DIT. Pretty weird to be on the other side of the phone. 3. Going to a house viewing this afternoon. Housemates are all excited and want to take it but it's unfurnished and the move...

Re: Current GMHW Training?

So there are three main clinical aspects to my role: - Triage assessments: gathering information from new clients about their difficulties, then discussing the cases with supervisors and getting back to the clients with treatment recommendations. Mostly telephone work, 12 per week. - Psychoeducation...
