Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1. I need to quit my part-time youth worker job since I haven't worked before Christmas and my full-time job is so demanding. I've been putting off the conversation with my boss though because I've been there for 3 years and I love my colleagues. 2. I also don't want to arrange a leaving do as I'm s...

Re: Putting together a book proposal...feedback wanted!

This sounds really useful to me :) It sounds like a really useful book to prepare people for the environment and different issues we may face. Will there also be proposed solutions to these issues too? Predictions of the future/other changes that may be upcoming etc.?

Re: Current GMHW Training?

Thank you for your reply LIWY. Apologies for the delayed response, I've been finding my feet in the service more in order to now be able to answer my own question in case others have the same query later down the line. I've been in this post for a month now :) You are right in that there is no much ...

Re: Things you've learned at work today

Today I learned (thanks to my manager) that when triaging clients, I should save the risk assessment until after they've told me their main difficulties and a rapport has been built up, even if I do identify risk at the beginning of the session. On further reflection, it may also help to do the risk...

Re: All Is Not Rosy!!

What Miriam and Geishawife said - well done! Of course it's important that services are as good as possible for the safety and wellbeing of staff and service users, so it's great that you've been so proactive and reflective, despite it being a challenging thing to stand up and do. I hope things get ...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

5. Wonder what advice I'd give my 6 years ago self if I could go back? Maybe to do EMDR training sooner, maybe start doing private work sooner, or maybe just to do exactly as I did and it would turn out ok? Man, that's such an important sentiment to have! I'm going to try and remember that one. 1. ...

Thank you bunnies :D The commute is okay once I'm on the train, but getting out of bed and leaving the house in the dark is really tough!

Re: Superstitions

Whenever I use the phrase 'touch wood' - I feel a little uneasy if I don't find some wood to tap! In instances where I can't find a piece of wood, I tap my head.. :P Ditto! I also say good morning to magpies, and count them. I also say "Hi Nanny" to the moon and random clicks of the kettle, thanks ...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

Cheering for you firegal! 1. Doing a mock triage with my mentor tomorrow and then I have a written exam on Friday, and next week I'll start triaging clients! 2. So exhausted. Eyes are burning. Had about 3 hours' sleep last night. 3. I'm definitely going to have to quit my part-time youth worker role...

Re: Current GMHW Training?

Thank you for your response LIWY. I've thought, too, that I may end up doing more clinically due to being in the service 5 days per week instead of four. I'm really happy and grateful for the opportunity, it just seems strange to have two very similar roles but only have the qualification for one--d...

Re: Current GMHW Training?

Hi Tabitha, Thank you so much for your response! It was certainly really helpful, I started my job yesterday so I was able to read it last night and compare it to what I learned that day. It’s definitely a great role, I can see that I’ll learn lots of clinical skills—and quickly too since I should s...
