Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

Hey Victoriomantic. Sounds like you have made your decision, and I’m not trying to be persuasive here, but I started training this year after finishing the HI course in June and there has been opportunity to work toward full accreditation In the first year which I am doing. Might not be the case wi...

Re: What you're thinking v what you say

What I'm saying: Mhm, of course
What I'm thinking: Please answer my question, we only have 20 minutes left, oh god how do I interrupt you? My supervisor is going to make me role play this AGAIN.

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

Thank you Esuma, that's a great idea :) She's met one of my colleague's dogs in previous treatment with us so I might start there as a recap but would love to bring in other dogs. One of our managers has a beautiful dog who is very sweet but he's quite big so I imagine bringing him in would be a lot...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

Congratulations Ell! 1. Made the difficult decision not to apply for the doctorate this year after getting so close last year. I need to focus on passing HI and actually really should spend the 1 year consolidating these skills and working towards full CBT accreditation. It is a weight off to make t...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

Lingua as usual your posts make me laugh and smile! That skirt sounds adorable and I definitely understand your point #3. I'm not arthritic but I have a Vitamin D insufficiency that causes similar-ish symptoms to my mum's arthritis and I'm only 26. I often think there is more wrong with my knees tha...

Re: Therapist Burnout

((Apologies in advance if this list sounds directive. It's just me listing as many ideas as I can think of, and it's a serious topic. Your wellbeing is super important!)) In all honesty, if you are experiencing burnout (and those symptoms you described!), the best thing you can do is go to your line...

Re: Being a PWP with a Disability

Hi there Catherine, I trained in-house as a Graduate Mental Health Worker so I didn't do the course, but I have been a PWP for over two years and am due to start HI training next week. During my time as PWP I was diagnosed with a disability (either narcolepsy type 2 or idiopathic hypersomnia as neur...

Re: core professions

I'm no expert (I'm going down the KSA route for my course that starts in October) but I believe you need evidence of a professional registration with a governing body? E.g. HCPC registration for a clin psych, NMC for nurses etc.

Re: Biting off more than you can chew

Thanks, Miriam. Amusingly, when you mentioned cognitive distortions and 'should/must/ought' rules, I started chiding myself, "Are you still doing that? You had CBT for this sort of thinking! You should have got a handle on it by now! You should..." Then I noticed what I was doing and was at least a...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1. Do your KSA, do your KSA, do your KSA, do your KSA 2. This does not bode well for HI if I can't get brain in gear to do work outside of working hours again! 3. That's probably not a bad thing though, now I've learned relaxation is a good thing, gotta find those new boundaries 4. Ill on my week of...

2.) I love my new job. It's the most rewarding but challenging thing I've done in a while. I'm teaching in a school for teenagers with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. Last week I had a student I'd never met before who began the lesson curled up in a monosyllabic ball on the sofa....

Congratulations Esuma & Lingua, and Miriam too -- lots of exciting and big things for you Miriam, I am in awe at everything you have going on! 1. Finally starting proper work on my KSA... as usual I am making it too big a task for myself 2. Fitbit giving me a "3kg lost" badge is surprisingly uplifti...
