Re: Interview-Research proposal

I shouldn't have been informed about this just now, it should have been up online since the very beginning of the application process. Of course, it isn't just you who has only just found out! If the information is not on the site, then all self-funded applicants will be in the same boat. I agree i...

Re: Interview-Research proposal

I didn't have to do this, but given that my first assignment I had to submit 4 months into my first year of training was a research proposal of 5000 words, I'd say this is a completely fair request. You're right that it's not a PhD, but it is a doctorate with a huge research component, so they want...

Interview-Research proposal

Hello all, I find myself fortunate enough to shortlisted for an interview (I'm a self-funding student. I presume they decided to deal with us first. No returns from other courses). I was over the moon till I got an email today requesting me to send them a research proposal of 500 words which is due ...

Re: How to Apply As A NonEU Student? A Personal Account & Ad

I'm voting for this post to be wikified. Any other opinions? Agreed. It's a topic that people ask about quite a bit and none of us have the up to date info on it. I would be honoured if you make this post a wiki. That would mean I can give something to this forum which helped me tremendously. Howev...

Re: Verbal and numerical reasoning tests

While we are talking about verbal&numeric tests, I'd like to share an email I received the other day. I wasn't informed on the outcome of my application, be it rejection or invitation to the test, so I reached the admin. They told me that only applicants who have applied to the funded programme are ...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

The tough question related to my methodology. I'd written a very forceful critique of certain postmodernist approaches to my topic, and explained why I found it unethical to apply such ideas and vocabulary to young people growing up in a situation of political violence and serious inequality/segreg...

Re: Easier route to clinical psychology?

I'm afraid it's not as easy as one can hope. In addition to all basic requirements, self-funded applicants also face the same rigorous selection process. Applications and places for self-funded course centres - 2016 entry Applications Places Course Centres 38 1 Coventry and Warwick - self-funded 40 ...

Re: How to Apply As A NonEU Student? A Personal Account & Ad

I had thought my powers of time wasting were restricted to the UK, but am glad to see I have been facilitating procrastination across the globe. I fear this may be my lasting contribution to clinical psychology. Well, at least I amazed my flatmate by finding a very specific book to procrastinate in...

How to Apply As A NonEU Student? A Personal Account & Advice

I have always wanted to do clinical psychology training in the UK since I was a high school student. It was a long shot dream, but hey, a teenager allowed to have fantasies, eh? Obviously at that time, I didn't know this process is hell. I was just looking at nicely designed uni brochures and pickin...

References: Better to use a UK one or home country one?

Hi all! I'm an international applicant who is aiming for self-funded courses. I'm also doing an MSc right now in the UK, but it's been only a month. Today I met my tutor at uni and showed them my application form. They were very helpful and also asked me about my referees. They said they can write a...

Re: 12-Month-Long Masters Hindering Application?

I secured an interview for the Doctorate this year and I am part-way through a MSc, finishing in September. My graduation isn't until December but because I will have finished all exams/assignments/thesis by September this should not impact! Hope this helps :) Thanks, that's brilliant  The...
