Re: Pre-interview tests UEL/Salomons

I botched the writing task. I catastrophically misinterpreted the task and had to restart 15 mins in  Hopefully my furious attempts to make up for lost time at least amounted to something.. Oh no that’s awful! I feel like I might have misunderstood too, it wasn’t what I was expecting which re...

Re: Pre-interview tests UEL/Salomons

Does anyone know how the courses actually pick individuals for interview based on test scores, because i'm sure out of approx. 500-600 people sitting the test there will be a high percentage who achieve the same score? Do they use personal statements as well? This is a major problem that I've also ...

Surrey selection test

Dear all, This is my first year attempting the Surrey selection test, and was wondering whether anyone would be happy to share some preparation tips? Specifically, I was wondering what reading people would recommend for the situational judgment? Aside from reading the BPS code of conduct for CP, I'm...

Re: Any advice for the personal statement?

Again, no expert here, as I'm also in the stage of applying (although I did get an interview last year). As others have mentioned, I have also been told that you want to make the statement as reflective as possible. I went through quite a lot of drafts, and with each revision, the main feedback was ...

Counselling psychologist as a referee?

Dear all, I was considering applying for a new AP job, and I noticed that the clinical supervisor of the post would be a counselling psychologist. I hope to not imply any snobbery between clinical and counselling psychologists, but does anyone know whether having your nominated clinical supervisor f...

IAPT versus AP

Hi all. My office offers placements to first year trainees, so I've had a chance to meet some of the successful candidates. I found out from them that at least 60% of the cohort or that course come from IAPT backgrounds, many of whom are qualified CBT therapists. It made me think. I have experience ...

2017: Trent Leicester Coventry & Warrick Birmingham 2018: Staffordshire Lancaster Trent Leicester I'm incredibly pleased to get this far this year. I thought my Leicester interview went terribly but must have been able to get something across. I'm second on the reserve list for Leicester any ideas ...

Re: What to do next!

I understand the anxiety with the selection tests. I've always been good at maths and done well in the statistics modules, but I struggled in the numerical reasoning this year. Often the questions require multiple steps, and on a couple of occasions, I must've made a calculator error, as my calculat...

Re: Numerical Reasoning test problems

Yes, tests need to be reset by the administrator. If you have emailed me then I will have done this. If you have contacted one of the programmes then email me and I'll reset the test as soon as I have a chance. Our advice not to wait until the last few days to do the tests is to try to help you avo...

Re: Time off NHS job for DClin interviews

I can add some clarity to this. I was given "special leave" for my interview, as I had run out of annual leave for that year (the AL year end is 31/03, and my interview was 26/03). Special leave is allocated for training and development within the NHS. It will, of course, depend on the decision of y...
