just to add my own experience... not sure where this one chance at oxford thing has come from, maybe it used to be the case but at my selection day for oxford there was a guy there who'd been unsuccessful at interview for oxford the year before and was still offered an interview (this was only last ...

Hi all,
Trying to get my hands on the following article, can anyone help?

Thanks a million x

I think it's unfair to look on non-drivers as hogging all the local placements. In an ideal world public transport would be much better and we would all have the option of being non-drivers It's not that I see them as hogging the local placements. As you say if public transport were better things w...

just to stick my oar in, I would love to be able to walk to work (I'm on the course). However my placement is 1.5 hours commute away. There is someone in my year without a car and she has been given a very local placement. I'm happy with this arrangement now but knowing that she has no disability or...

Help on stats

Hi guys I'm auditing a group and am looking at whether scores on the parenting stress index have changed significantly after accessing the group. However the parents attend a varying number of sessions so I can't group them. Thought about doing it case by case and doing a within subject t-test on ea...

yes, about 4 of our cohort have placements in Northampton and 1 in Kettering, not sure which exact places though. You will probably meet some of us at some point! In a few years the Leicester course will take over the Northampton placements, but unfortunately it'll be too late for us and we'll just ...

don't know about Edinburgh but I know lots of courses are very strict about you taking teaching days off, and have heard stories that even if it's your best friend getting married, unless you're a bridesmaid they don't like it!
not sure what Edinburgh will be like though

the thing I always think about the reserve is that the course are basically saying "we'd love to have you if only we had more places" - it's not necessarily about others being "better", they just genuinely ran out of space for all the excellent candidates they wanted to take. I think I would have fe...

hear hear MissB! I wholeheartedly agree, I think the point of a diverse cohort is that we can learn from each other's varied experiences, there are many ways and backgrounds to approach training from and no way is more "right" than the other. I for one will be looking forward to benefitting from the...

I would echo that_guy_ in that I am also 23 and have gained a place on the course, and do not feel I am any less "ready" now than I would be in a few more years time. I have had a number of experiences where I feel that I have had to prove myself because of my age, and definitely feel that I have be...
