Re: BPS membership's a bit pointless?
^^ its one of those things in which the more you get involved, the more you get out of it - if you get involved with the individual faculties, get involved with the CPD/events, get onto the mailing lists - theres a lot there - I use to work for the DCP and we used to hear a lot "you only get th...

Re: BPS membership's a bit pointless?
Its a regular thought for people, and I suppose it depends what you want from your membership - I know that many people working in private practice value the chartered (CPsychol) status, alongside the Associate Fellow status because of some of the recognition and status that those titles enshrine, a...

Re: Campaign for a Royal College of Psychologists
I worry as always, it feel like 'perfect' may be the enemy of 'good', and I worry that those who do not find a perfect fit with the ACP and therefore choose not to support it at this stage/wait and see are inevitably going to lead to it not being able to do what it can. I've chosen to join the ACP a...

Re: How to list your qualifications after your name?
yeah, although the BPS does give you the option of using MBPsS, typically professionals would only use the fellow/associate fellow qualification.
(incidentally, have just got my AFBPsS status!)

I've only got the very old ones if that's any good? (I have a draft of the new ones in my inbox somewhere, but not in an official capacity)

Re: FACT model - any experience?
We use the FACT model in our service ('stable' psychosis and personality disorder). In my experience it doesn't really work - the idea being that if someone is placed into FACT then we should have a more assertive, team-informed approach to better support that person and stabilise them. In practice ...

later on in the survey there is also the opportunity to rank the importance of most of those items on a likert scale, so you can make a preference for which ones are most important

Survey - a new organistion to represent clinical psychology
Hello all I'm sure that many of you will be aware of some of the ongoing difficulties taking place between the BPS/DCP at the moment, and that there is some talk of requiring a separate organisation to represent clinical psychology in the future. This came out strongly from a recent DCP/BPS survey s...

Re: Question for qualified CPs
my job at the moment ends up costing me an extra 2 or so hours a day, so I tend not to do too much reading in the evenings to try and hold some balance (falling asleep on my sofa takes priority!) but if I do, its only a little bit

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2017 entry DClinPsy
Birmingham Potentially silly question but it's my first year applying - could anyone tell me how interview reserve lists work? I.e. are we able to find out what position we are on the list, when will we find out if we have an interview etc... as I'm thinking the chances of people not attending an i...

Re: Can you be a 'psychologist' without a BPS accreditation
Hi There are a few things that you may be thinking about - so just want to check what you mean. In order to undertake higher level professional psychology qualifications (either doctorates like clinical/counselling or MSc's like health) you need to have an undergraduate/conversion course which meets...

Re: Oxford DClinPsy group task
Hi There won't be a thread specific to Oxfords group task, as there are clear rules on the forum about not discussing the interview techniques from particular Universities (as Ell outlined above) Rule 13: http://www.clinpsy.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10 We have a wiki which is more general, talkin...
