Re: Quick survey for a client's question

Thank you so much Geishawife and anyone else who completed the survey - I really appreciate you taking the time to do this. I've closed the survey now as there are lots of responses. Thank you again.

Quick survey for a client's question

Hello all, I'd be really grateful if you could please spare a few minutes to answer this 4 question survey about talking to someone who has had cancer. The responses are anonymous, and will be used as part of mine and a client's work together. The client has given full consent and permission for me ...

Re: Newly qualified with HCPC - First Job Search

I wasn't aware there was an guidance about the amount of supervision you should get as a qualified CP- I'd be really interested if anyone has a link to any? I'm a band 7 and get 1.5 hours fortnightly, and we're about to reduce it to 3-weekly as I complete my preceptorship. I'm also fortunate in tha...

Re: Newly qualified with HCPC - First Job Search

In addition, as a band 7 clinical psychologist you should still have weekly supervision, which is as much as you would get as an assistant psychologist. I just wanted to flag up that the amount of supervision can vary between different services/Trusts. For example, in my previous job I had 1 hour o...

Also, with my tongue firmly in my cheek, it's like medicine without the [physically] sick people  . Unless you're a CP in physical health services, where working with people clutching sick bowls and with open wounds can be all in a day's work! And I'm definitely a CP because I'm nosey, but I u...

I've gone through these now :) I've written next to each link below: Toria: How are applicants short-listed for AP posts? Done - all looks good to me How do I critique a research paper? the reliability and validity link doesn't seem right (it goes to the A-Z in Clin Psych wiki), CASP is now called C...

This thread may be useful, although it is about training in the US and I'm unsure whether you are already qualified as a CP in the UK or not: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=13211&p=177194#p177194

Re: Viva tips

I totally agree BlueCat.

Is it usual to have some input into who your external examiner is for DClin vivas? We didn't on our course but it sounds like this might vary from course to course?

Re: Viva tips

My main tips mostly echo what others have already said: - have a mock viva - write notes over your copy as reminders - use post it notes to mark important sections - have a sheet of corrections (e.g. I had rerun some stats so could show these in my viva) - look at the main relevant theories as a ref...
