Re: evidence examining CPs views of private work

A vague memory of a BPS private practitioners section has popped into my mind - if it exists it might be worth contacting them!

Good luck with the paper :)

This sounds a great event and initiative - gutted I don't live anywhere near the North West! Hope it goes as well as it sounds like it will :)

Re: Why is it an exciting time to (possibly) do my training?

Interesting questions and thoughts! I think lots of CPs also struggle with the 'how', and, personally, at times I feel stuck in a system which seems stuck and unfair. Community psychology approaches have a lot to offer for the wider social issues you have flagged up - if you're interested in reading...

Re: The Cathartic thread - rant here!

Argh how is it possibly so complicated to order resources for training that is part of my job description to deliver?!?!?! Maybe I should just make the session into 3 hours of interpretive dance and hope it is as helpful as the actual training package.

Humph.

Re: Clinical Vignette examples

There are some on this website: http://clinpsy.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... oup#p11191

I vaguely remember a London AP group having some online when I applied for training a few years ago but I can't seem to find them now.

Re: Self employed work alongside DClinPsy

It's not exactly the same but two people in my year during training were finishing off their PhDs during their first year and the uni/course okayed this and they got through it pretty much in one piece!

Re: Structure/timetable of week at your clinical course

At Trent the timetable was: First year 13 week teaching block (mostly in Lincoln) Then 3 days a week placement for 9 months - most people were placed in adult mental health Alongside placement - 1 day a week teaching and 1 day a week study day. Teaching ended in about May and then we had an extra st...

Re: Self employed work alongside DClinPsy

One of my previous supervisors worked as an HCA on weekends whilst he was a trainee, so it is not unheard of. Personally, I'd want to make sure it wasn't getting in the way of work for the doctorate and that I still had time to chill a bit too.
