Re: Any success for tax refund while training?

Hi Everyone, This is really useful information particularly when knowing budgets for rent. Does anyone know how this will affect trainees starting at Leeds in October 2016? Thanks :) If you ring payroll at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust and speak to Wendy Green, she's really helpful and knows all a...

Re: Soma or somatic memory

Bessel Van Der Kolk is really good on trauma and somatic memory. His book "The body keeps the score" is really interesting.

Re: Any sucess for tax refund while training?

It was purely an NHS scheme. I think the Unite info on it stated that explicitly.

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1. Gone on a hypnotherapy course this week and despite some concerns, I'm really enjoying it. 2. Got lots of new ideas for developing my business. 3. Still upset about Brexit, I just don't think it's a good idea. Clearly I'm in a minority. :( :( 4. You know when you're on a course and there's a coup...

Re: Advice for mature applicant / parent starting out

I'd agree Alex. Having kids is pretty grounding. You can't prioritise work as much when, say, nursery shuts at six and there are financial penalties (and the possibility of social services involvement) for late pick ups. Or when a kid has conjunctivitis and despite what the doctor says, nursery have...

Re: LinkedIn as a useful networking tool in Psychology?

True Maven, but I find it more bother than it's worth. I spend all my time unsubscribing from notifications and it still finds ways to hassle me. I read the odd blog post and have a couple of people I follow. But I find it a pain.

Definitely. This thread is "off topic" from career and work issues in psychology. Obviously work issues do feature, but it's really a space to just think out loud. On any topic. The more trivial, silly, mundane the better!

Re: LinkedIn as a useful networking tool in Psychology?

As a qualified psychologist with a private practice I have a linked in account but don't find it useful. I know potential clients often check me out. And I get inundated with recruitment agencies offering me work and aspiring psychologists wanting to connect. I'm afraid I am very picky about who I c...

Re: Any sucess for tax refund while training?

I have now had, and banked my full refund. I'm very happy with the outcome and would like to thank whoever, alerted me to WAT in the first place. I have been refunded tax and NI for both my full time year and my 2+ part time years.

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1. Getting a significant tax and ni refund is very welcome, I feel a couple of foreign trips coming on. 2. Hoping like mad we don't leave the EU tomorrow (I know it doesn't work quite like that but you know what I mean!). 3. Been working on a medico legal report since mid-morning and still have a 3 ...

Re: Poll: EU In or Out?

I'm hoping this poll is right and the poll done by the appliance repair man who came round yesterday to fix my freezer is wrong. Apparently we were the first people he's spoken to in several weeks who had expressed a wish to stay in the EU. He was quite shocked that anyone would want to. He's one of...

Actually I went to Iceland just after Christmas. It was amazing. I have a big birthday in Feb next year and may insist we go back :D
