Re: Finding out about opportunities abroad

One more question for you, blue86, if you don't mind! It might not be possible to answer, but what kind of salary would a research assistant position command? One of those UCLA ads says: "Minimum Salary: $18.25 / $3176 Maximum Salary: $21.77 / $3788" That's hardly a maximum yearly salary, I take it!...

Re: Finding out about opportunities abroad

That's so helpful, thank you!

Tht job in Hawaii looks amazing! As its only January, it's a bit early for me to actually apply to anything, but it's so great just to have somewhere to start looking when I'm ready :).

Re: Finding out about opportunities abroad

That's brilliantly useful, thank you! I am familiar with the differences between the PhD and PsyD - the upshot of both though is that they can take 4-6 years and are not funded, is that correct? I would love a pointer in the right direction about where to look for research assistant posts and job ad...

Finding out about opportunities abroad

Hi all, I do apologise if this isn't the right forum to ask this question in! There seems to be a bit of overlap, so I've taken my best guess :). I'm in the middle of a Masters in Foundations of Clinical Psychology in the UK and am looking into jobs for when I finish. I've always been focused on my ...

Re: When to apply?

Thank you both for the replies! lakeland - I can certainly approach the University about RA positions, which is a good idea. Mya - it's useful to know that it can take that long! I'll keep an eye on posts and start applying soon for ones that really catch my eye, and then pick up the pace with apply...

When to apply?

I'm in the middle of my MSc in Clinical Psychology at the moment and hoping to get a position as an AP in the NHS once I'm done. Technically, my masters goes until the end of September, but the taught component ends in May. I'm willing to start working from June onwards, doing my thesis in my spare ...

That's mine in too. Now to try and forget about it until March!

Re: Is it worth applying?

That's an interesting point. My thesis is due in September 2013, but the Uni doesn't run winter graduations so I won't graduate until summer 2014. My student card expires at the end of September 2013 though, so officially I'll cease to be a student there then. I don't know the answer, to be honest. ...

Re: Is it worth applying?

Hi astra, Sorry for my belated reply but I never got an email notification of your reply. It was very kind and encouraging. I've put together my application and will submit it tomorrow. In the same way that watching happy videos makes you happy, writing good things about yourself makes you feel conf...

Re: Is it worth applying?

Thanks for the quick reply, Miriam. I am pretty resilient so I might just apply this year as a "test run", just to get the experience of filling in the form :).

Re: Question over future for Irish courses

Does this mean that Irish Universities won't be taking applications for entry in 2013?

Is it worth applying?

Hi all! This is my first post here, clearly. I'm planning on applying this year, but reading through a few threads, I'm wondering if I'm wasting my time? I have a 2.1 in Neuroscience, a 1st in Psychology (conversion course) and am currently doing an MSc in Foundations of Clinical Psychology. While d...
